I griped enough about Firestone Walker standard beers not being avail in MA, while their geeky expensive beers languished. So, the Union Jack made a quick appearance a few weeks back but has yet to be seen since. I snagged a few 6ers & enjoyed them immensely. When will we see this beer here again? Hopefully not a dump & run by FW.

I saw one lone six pack in a local shop in Springfield today...bottle date from the beginning of January. I really enjoyed this beer, I really hope we get a fresh batch soon. Same goes for the double jack.

Saw some at Lukes in Rockland, whole foods in Dedham and Granite liquors in Weymouth. The ones at Lukes will probably just sit on the shelves and get dusty.

I'm assuming it's def not a dump and run. I'm going to assume that after the stale Double Jack debacle a few months back the distributor is being more cautious with ordering. FW is really responsive via the Twitters, so maybe holler there?

MA has seen two shipments of Union Jack. One in November and one in late January. One of my favorite IPA's. There's still a few cases at Martignetti's in Brighton. Def wasn't a dump. It was bottled on 1/20.

Harington's in Chelmsford ran out recently but had it for months before that. It will be back.

I was told it will eventually be a year round offering in MA, The last batch that was sent here was back in Jan. There is a firestone truck with abacus and wokey jack that should hit MA any week now, hopefully there is some union jack on it.

Knowing that store, those are probably the November batch...

If Union Jack is really a year-round offering, it's certainly one of the strangest ones I've ever seen. It seems stores got a case or two with FW15, and that's more or less it for most stores. How can it be so difficult to pump a decent amount of a flagship IPA to one of like the 10 states where they distribute to?

I feel more like we're just getting leftovers as allocation allows.

Too bad, because this is a really nice IPA.

Agree. I'd love to have it avail often (& Double Barrel too), but I get the feeling we are getting excess inventory since it only came here in 1 shipment...along with the damn expensive crap.

It came in two shipments. The second one seemed larger, but maybe that was just me.

who cares if it's excess inventory as long as it's fresh, which it has been. it's been here within a week of bottling on both occasions. second shipment wasn't definitely larger.

I only care inasmuch as I'd like to see it regularly instead of never knowing when another shipment might roll in.

Cool. Are they sending Double Barrel Ale (DBA) with it? As much as I like UJ, DBA is a fantastic every-day sessionable (for me) beer.

No word on double barrel yet but the shipments have seemed to get bigger every time.

The only non-bomber sized bottles I've seen so far in MA are Union Jack. Seemed to be at a few places today when I went shopping this morning (03/17). Blanchards and Gary's in West Roxbury had sixers on the shelf, but I didn't look to see the bottled date.

On a somewhat related note, I went to the soft opening of Yard House in Fenway last weekend. Their housebeers are brewed by FW. Had the IPA and really enjoyed it. Seemed to be closer to Nectar IPA than Union Jack, but not identical to either brews based on my sole pint. They had several styles, so it may be a way to get some other FW brewed goodies while we wait to get their small bottled line-up distro'd here.

There's some @ Long Ridge Wine & Spirits down in South Plymouth, plenty of Double Jack and Abacus (Sucaba) too.

Sounds right- Julios was just running out this past weekend, and they had it in for what seemed like a good while. Definitely a good number of cases. Might not have been the freshest, but was still pretty damn good. Didn't seem like it lost too much hop character.

I would say its due to its location. Granite, Derby, and Curtis are all just too easy to access right of route 3 and there is nothing else in Rockland. Weymouth has the Brewhouse and Derby is in a prime shopping location.

Also, Granite has cases of union jack, think they said 2/27 for packaged date.

Middle of nowhere. It's an extra 10 minutes (each way) past the Weymouth shops for anyone headed down Rt 3 South. Luke's isn't often going to get me anything Granite won't, so why bother...

Yep... they have CASES of this beer within weeks of bottling... if it sells well, I think we will see more of it more consistently.
