Ok.... final entry for this trip.... (finally!)

Wednesday, 02OCT, day 15.... Very nice weather this day.... started with a train trip southwest to Poperinge... just to walk around a bit and take some pics. Picturesque little town.... ended up at a small cafe on the town square and had a Tongerlo Blonde.... not bad... went to get my train to Ypres but it was canceled.... had an hour to kill, so the pub right next door was handy... A St Bernardus Tripel and a small bowl of cheese hit the spot while I played "fetch" with the pub dog... Got my train and into Ypres.... more pics there of some WWI sites, then a quick beer at Ol, a Buffalo Bourbon Stout. Didn't live up to what I remember it being.... Train again back to Gent.... After a quick meal, I parked at Trappistenhuis for my nightcaps.... Had a couple Rochefort Extra Triples to round out the day....

Thursday, 03OCT, day 16.... Gorgeous weather meant a day-trip to Bruges. What a day! Over the course of 11 hours I hit 7 different pubs and had 10 beers.... WHEW!!! Got there early and took loads of pics of the sites I've taken loads of pics of in previous years!! Started the festivities with a Straffe Hendrik Quad at Halve Maan.... damn tasty!! Out for more pics... thought de Garre opened at 13.00, so I stopped into Cambrinus for a quickie. A lovely Gulden Drakk 9000 hit the spot.... over to de Garre, which had already been open for an hour. Easily found a seat, though, and had the house Tripel. It was damn tasty, along with some cheese. Had another Tripel and snagged 2 bottles to go. After a little souvenir shopping, it was over to 't Brugs Beertje..... easily seated there as well, in the rear room. They had Westy XII, which I hadn't had in years.... so, I sez, what the fuck, Gus? and I go for it. Fantastic! Had a sandwich and finished my visit there with a Struise Cuvee Delphine..... time to head back to Gent.... arrived there about 19.15.... hit the Trollekelder for the first time, with another Gulden Draak 9000 doing it for me. Out of there and a stop at Dulle Griet was next. Had a Struise Black Damnation Maestro and a bowl of spicy salami. One more stop, with Trappistenhuis being between strategically located between Griet and my room.... There I had another toasted ham & cheese sammich with 2 Rochefort Extra Triples washing it down.... Damn!! Enough! Back to the room for some Zzzzsss.....

Friday, 04OCT, travel day... packed up and out of my AirBnb.... had a 17.00 flight from Amsterdam, so I had enough time for some "lunch" at in de Wildeman in AMS.... great to see the owner, old friend Simon.... Finished off the trip with three bottles of de Molen Bommen & Granaten Barleywine... ahhh!! Hit the spot..... off to the airport and back to Boston and home!!

    Thnx for following along, friends!!

    Cheers & Prost!!
