Wasn't surprised by many of these. Was pleasantly surprised that Dogfish Head is an organic product though

So Heineken says they don't use GMOs and their potfolio of beers, including Newcastle, also do not contain GMOs. But this listing shows that NewCastle does contain GMOS. So basically I would trust all this information as highly credible.

Founders isn't on there. But then again, who cares about GMOs besides trendy people trying to seem above the hilt?

Maybe not the most credible sites. But no matter what you feel about the science and safety of GMOs, more transparency is never a bad thing. If you're not proud of what you're putting in your beer, why are you using those ingredients?

Economics. Plus shitloads of fear-mongering that sells better than hot cakes (just look at all those people that have absolutely no concept of what "chemical" means).

Can't say I care. Not a fan of Monsanto but that has more to do with their business practices which are supposedly shady.

Foodbabe, the person responsible for this latest war on our food, has been discredited countless times. She is not a doctor, nutritionist, or expert in any field worth mentioning. I understand some people get nervous when something on the internet tells us to stop doing something immediately, but how about we all take a breath and check our sources before we jump off a cliff. Drink beer and be happy.

Take a look at this NPR article about Vani Hari, aka Food Babe:

Honestly, I think it sucks that we even have to think about this stuff. Whether you fear GMO or not, I think it's a freakin' crime that you can use GMO ingredients in anything and not have to label it as such.

^ That's a legislative issue, though. And apparently public resistance to attempts by the FDA to extend their regulatory power in order to deal with (potential) issues more effectively (like mandatory testing of supplements before they hit the market).

I used to agree with your point on transparency, but I've learned in recent years that most people are so dumb, that it's better to not tell them about certain things. Look no further than anti-vaxxers and people who avoid gluten even though they don't have Celiac disease or even an intolerance to gluten.

From what I've read, hops are extremely difficult to grow organic. I'm not aware of any GMO hops, but would have zero problem drinking beers with them.

I wonder how many "experimental" hop strains have been genetically modified.

The vast majority of beer on the market is not GMO free, or USDA-certified organic for that matter. If you aren't limiting yourself to only organic beers [or other foods] already there's no logical reason to limit yourself from GMOs.

The debate over GMOs is actually one that bothers most scientists, because science and risk studies are overwhelmingly in favor of GMOs, but public opinion is being swayed by false information and fear-mongering. The anti-GMO tactics are quite similar to the anti-vax movement and just as much in denial of facts and science. FWIW, I'm generally liberal, I buy mostly organic foods at the grocery store, and I think GMOs are good. Besides, humanity has been genetically modifying their food for thousands of years by selective cultivation and grafting.

This. Most things being organic is also unviable, both economically (for consumers) and in the sense that it won't suffice to feed a sufficient amount of people. This has been demonstrated quite sufficiently by the effect of Norman Borlaug's work on Asia (and people there not starving to death).

Plus emphasis on the bolded part.

HAHA! There is not a single citation for their sources of how they generated that GMO vs non-GMO brewery/beer list. In fact you can't even find an author or name of the organization that created the entire website. Everything about the website is a crock created for clickbait. What's worse though is that there are idiots who will believe it.

As a farmer, the anti GMO fear mongering fires me up more than I can express in polite company. Let me just say instead that if anything could encourage my consumption of macro beers, it would be a desire to support the 8 beers singled out on the OP's link.

Also, aren't there like three main malting companies that most brewers buy from?
