I only run into this conundrum at a stadium or concert. All I have to say is its all about the pre-game. Once the pump is primed sometimes you must grin and bear it

I'm the same way. Went to Wrigley yesterday. To say they have no craft beers would be an understatement. Couple that with the fact that Bud Light and Old Style are $7.75, and being the DD was a no brainer.

Baseball stadiums aren't all bad, though. Miller Park and US Cellular both have their fair share of craft brews. Wrigley is just stuck in the stone age on pretty much every front.

I don't feel the need to order a beer if there is nothing worth getting.

If you think AALs are harsh you probably haven't had one in a long time., or ever at all.

Same here. If there is nothing on their list that interests me, I will have a water or something. An establishment's beer list is the determining factor for me. So rarely do I find myself in the mentioned situation. Even our minor league ball parks offer craft beer, not my favorites, but that's where my money is spent if I want a beer.

Generally speaking I feel this way at restaurants, but every now and then after a hike a Budweiser hits the spot.

I agree whole heartedly, but I prefer to mix my craft beer with Genesee, Utica Club or cellared PBR.

there's almost always something to drink for me.
if there's no craft beers I'll do an import like heineken or something similar. if there's nothing like that I'll do a mixed drink or whiskey on the rocks or something like that. other wise I don't drink and look for a way out of the picnic or party. if i have to go because of the birthday or family obligation or something I'll do it. begrudgingly.

I look at it this way. If I'm at a friend's house and he offers me a Macro, I appreciate his hospitality and drink it. It's not like the occasional BMC product is going to kill me. There's a fine line between Beer Geek and Beer Snob. In my opinion, refusing someone's hospitality to avoid drinking a beer you see as "inferior" crosses it.

Good call. I've been cellaring my PBR for like 4 years now. Just not sure if I should drink it now or wait another couple years. I heard it peaks right about 10 years though.

only drinking things you like is not "anal". don't really get where this perspective comes from. would it be weird to you (or anyone) if you only sat down and watched TV shows you liked?

I'd rather drink craft but the bulk of my close friends do not. If I'm over at one of their homes and all they have in the fridge is Bud or Coors, I won't turn it away. Fr me its a respect thing I guess.

craft or none... I find myself at several restaurant chains actually not having a beer because it's all big beer swill.

Does not eating Taco Bell make me anal about Mexican food?

No, eating Taco Bell food will make you anal. Not in a good way.

refusing a beer that you find offensive is no more rude than a vegetarian refusing to eat bacon. I don't like it, I won't have it - if you have a problem with my preferences, that's not my issue.

I'd rather drink a Bud than some of the mediocre craft that's on the shelves.
