I will be in the Stamford area later this month and was wondering if there were any good bottle shops in the area.

    Thanks

Hi Mike, stamford is right on the 95 coridor so I would suggest checking out Deciccos in Ardsley or Port Chester Beer Distributors in Port Chester NY. It wouldn't take you longer then 15 to get to Port Chester and 30 minutes to Ardsley from Stamford. If that is to far check out Coal House Pizza. Not a bottle shop but they make good pie and have 52 taps with many great beers.

Coalhouse Pizza is a great spot. Gerard, the co-owner + manager, is super friendly and a big beer nerd.

BevMax in Stamford (near exit 9 from I95) has a huge craft selection. If you're willing to go to Norwalk, check out Ninety9 Bottles and Winenation.

Stamford will not have a bottle shop that will impress you. As indicated above, you really need to go elsewhere to be happy. If you are stuck in Stamford then Three Seas and Fairway both have more interesting selections than BevMax in my opinion.

Coalhouse is your way to go for beer in Stamford, though!

And to be fair, I think while DeCicco's is the best, Ardsley is probably more than 30 minutes and not much of a straight shot (certainly not I-95 corridor as it's well north of 95). That said, if you trek over ... hit Captain Lawrence while you are at it.

Thanks everyone....Captain Lawrence and Peekskill are both on my list of places to hit up. I heard great things about both of them.

Have you ever bought beer from Port Chester? The selection was really impressive and I bought a few bottles, but they were all bad. The store was really hot and we thought it was just because it was hot out, but it must always be like that because every bottle was horrible. I was just curious of your experience.

What bottles did you buy? I've bought bottles from there many times and honestly never had a problem. Though I must say I am particular about what I buy.

I should also add that I am sorry that my advice to you produced a bad result.

Oh, I don't blame you at all. We bought Alesmith X IPA, Maine Brewing Co. Mean Old Tom, a Jolly Pumpkin, a Bruery, and Cigar City (forgot the specific beers). All of them were recently bottled, within a safe date range or could be aged. I was more curious if you had issues or have been there before. What have you gotten there?
