My sister lives in Denver and is coming home for the holidays. She asked if I want her to bring beer (she knows me well). What are some good Denver beers (or all of Colorado for that matter) that she can get fairly easy - that I can't get in Chicagoland?

Dry Dock Brewing has some great beers (Hop Abomination, Wee Heavy, Apricot Blonde, etc.)

Never heard of this brewery, but it looks good. I'm guessing Bligh's Barleywine is impossible to get?

Can't go wrong with anything from Odell.

+1 Odell, Crooked Stave, and Russian River. Also look up Funkwerks and most Avery BA Beers aren't sold here

Thanks guys, these are some great suggestions.

P.S.: I didn't know Russian River was available in Denver.

Anything Crooked Stave, Russian River, Odell IPA and Myrcenary. Maybe Avery Uncle Jacobs if there is any floating around still.

I'd agree with what's said above. That said, I would think you would get more help posting in the Mountain regional forum. After all, they'll know better what is available now and where best to look. Good luck and happy holidays.

Not sure where it's sold, but someone in CO sent me Happy Camper IPA. I really liked that. Another option for you.

Odell in general. Everyone mentions Mercenary but their IPA, imperial black DIPA, porter, and winter seasonal are all amazing. That brewery is the most underrated brewery I've ever had the chance of experiencing. Blows my mind that people aren't always drooling over it.

The Black IPA is called Mountain Standard and it is my fav of that style. It's a seasonal and a must get if it's still available.

Ya. I bought about 2 cases of odell last month driving through Neraska. Mountain Standard was absolutely phenomenal.

The IPA is the star in my opinion. Mercenary is te obvious choice but the IPA is as good as they get for that abv.

Agree with everything said about Odell's. They just re-released Friek a couple of weeks ago - you might find it sitting on some shelves.

Trinity, out of Colorado Springs, is another brewery worth keeping an eye out for. They distribute to Denver and do a lot of experimental sours.

I'm moving from CO to IL as we speak. Here's a few CO goodies that I'd go for if I were you:

    -Anything RR
-Odells IPA, Myrcenary, Mountain Standard, Woodcut #7
-Dry Dock Vanilla Porter, Hefeweizen, and Apricot Blonde
    -CS anything
    -Trinity TPS Report
    -Santa Fe Java Imperial Stout
-Avery BA Beers (though most are brewery only and those that are distributed locally will be sold out)
    -Ska Modus Hoperandi

I'm sure there's others but there's a few off the top of my head. Let me know if I can be of further help. Cheers!
