I need to do something like this just so I can re-use my "bottle collection" for bottling Homebrew... such a waste of space.

To sum up most of the discussions here, the people who bought tickets have to justify spending the money on a good time, while the ones who didn't have to justify missing out.

I would gladly pay $200 or more to try King Henry, Bramble, and Rare.

Really pissed I missed a ticket.

$75 is a steal to try all those AND get a bomber.

    Lucky SOB's.

you could always just cry into the cases of unsold cbs and cantillon at your local store, right? ;)

Not quite. My wife and I spoke about it at length. Our reasoning is that I can do a better tasting with the Goose brews we have here. We did Black Friday a couple years ago, I hit it last year for King Henry, and we have plenty to go around. The only thing I don't have on hand is 2012 Coffee, but I expect to get at least one bottle. Rather than the bomber of 2009 BCBS, I would rather hit the '07-'12 BCBS I have sitting in the fridge. Basically, Goose was asking us to put up $75 for a tasting I can beat. Not worth the $150 (plus babysitting fee on Black Friday) for the two of us.

See I hear ya, as I have almost everything we're tasting as well...but to not have to dip into what I have AND get an 09 bomber AND a snifter, I think it's worth it, obviously just my opinion.

This is exactly you justifying why you are not going, so you can remove the Not Quite.

The sold out event shows that many, many people think it's worth it. Some of us just happen to have a different opinion :)

What's interesting to me is that GI held back enough Rare to supply this event.

I've heard tales from the recent past of at least a pallet of Rare...

Going with a buddy to the 4PM event. Gives us time to see what we can get from Vav. Also, I like the idea of it being bottles. Gives me a chance to try the few from the list that I haven't, have more of ones that I no longer have, and see how the ones I still have in bottle are doing (without opening them).

I think he is saying there are no pallets left because he purchased the last one and is giving it away as a door prize on Black Friday.

Hate to side with the crazy guy, but unless we have different definitions of pallets. I thought it was common knowledge GI holds back a bunch of product for future events, quality control, etc.

That fits my definition of a pallet. I also have pictures I took of a barrel or two of Rare in the warehouse.

which bottles are you referring to? regular BCS is 12oz bottles. Coffee and Cherry Rye will be bombers as all of the variations are.

i figured that much.... does this depend on how much the place marks the bottles up? what is standard?

Yes, exactly. Most Binnys charge $14 give or take a buck, which is standard.

EDIT: Binnys is a large chain of liquor stores in the Chicago area.
