Thanks for clearing that up. So it's basically the same stuff we've been drinking for the last couple years (not that that's a bad thing).

I'm confused... it's limited, but no vanilla?

I didn't take it as you giving me shit, so no harm/no foul. I was just stating my preferences. Who knows, maybe the extra time in the barrel would help in this instance. But in your example, I definitely think that Rare 2.0 is way too hot right now, compared the regular version. But again, just my opinion.

I only had a few tastes of this year's Rare, since I didn't get a bottle. Keep in mind, though, that I drink 60-70% abv bourbon neat from a glass, so I think I've burned enough of my senses away that "hot" beers don't really get to me anymore!

Considering that list few bottles sold on MBC have gone north of $200 (rediculous I know) $35 doesnt seem to bad. Expensive but considering most of their releases are $30 and I never thought I would ever get a shot at one of these im not too bothered by the price.

That was my line of thinking. As long as my sample of it on draft confirms it, I will probably be there for the bottle release. Not sure I can get there until 5, though, so who knows what that will be like.

Same. That was my move for Cherry Run. I told my self I want going to buy a bottle because of the FOBAB tax but i figured I would at least give it a try. 2 sips and I went home $40 richer.

I'm confused why they are re releasing this bottle in the first place if it's the same stuff as 2013. It seems like it would be better to just keep on draft and make more money that way. Maybe they are just so sick of it themselves that they are looking to get rid of it

Bottles make more than draft, especially when sold for $40 a pop.

Maybe the price will go up by $5 for the "oceanic" blue was they are using. I think regular blue would've kept it at $35, but "oceanic" blue is just so regal and majestic.

Is there any more news or details on how they are going to be doing the release? I've never been to a bottle release at Claybourne so I'm unsure how it's usually done.

I'm going on a private tour of the barrel house tomorrow night, maybe I'll get to pray to my dark lord Cthulu.

For our next bottle release, we're throwing it way back to 2013 when Cthulhu won gold at FOBAB. Join us Monday, March 7 as we tap and sell the absolute last of Cthulhu!

Tickets for bottles will be handed out at 5:30pm, draft will be tapped at 6pm, bottle sales 6:30pm-8:30pm ($35 / 1 per person). Cheers!

    Also:

What time will folks be able to line up or how will that work?

So tickets get handed out at 5:30 and we don't run a line prior to that. If you're sitting at a table/bar/etc. at 5:30, you'll get a ticket. Same if you walk in the door! Then we'll start selling the bottles at 6:30. Your ticket guarantees you that bottle until 8:30pm.

So, I'm sure the bar won't be crowded at 5:15 if there is no reason to get there before 5:30, right? :astonished:

Judging by the fact that people have lined up hours before the agreed upon time (and been told to leave, at which point they simply mill about near Goose Island in clusters of "line"), I'm not sure that's something you can count on, but I also don't want to be the guy who sends you to Clybourn early (although their are worse things in the world).

I guess my sarcasm didn't come through strong enough! I know there will be a crowd, but I am intrigued that they said you get a ticket as long as you're coming in the door at 5:30. Gives me less incentive to get there earlier, unless I want a seat at the bar, which would probably require getting there quite a bit earlier.

Ah my bad, I definitely read your post wrong. And yeah, I'm interested in what they mean by that as well.
