    Hello Michael,

Reed here with Goose Island. I appreciate you taking the time to write us about our finely crafted ales!

I wish I had better news, but Goose Island hasn't migrated all the way to Texas or any bordering states, and we are not set up for distribution yet. I apologize for any disappointment this may cause. In addition, we cannot sell to you directly as it's against the law. That said, we are working on bring our fine beers to more and more beer lovers.

My best advice is to check out our Beer Finder at GooseIsland.com. We are expanding quickly, and once we start selling in Texas, our Beer Finder will tell you which stores in your area that will sell our beers. From what I've heard, we hope to start selling in Texas by the end of 2012.

If you need me to check out any other cities for you in the mean time or if you're traveling, just give us a call at the number below. Our staff will be happy to see if our beer is available nearby.

Thanks again for the email, Michael. If there is ever anything I can do for you in the future, feel free to get back in touch. I hope you have an excellent week and can enjoy a smoky, robust Bourbon County Brand Stout in the future!

    Cheers,

    Reed

I spoke with him too. Kindof a strange interaction, I had spoke with him about a few different things, His reply of my question when juliet will be leaving the brewery included a random statement by him saying " I am not sure of Anheuser-Busch Sales of Oklahoma (our distributor) will be receiving it this year". It was strange because I had never mentioned that I was from Oklahoma. I actually implied that I lived near Chicago because I had been speaking with some beer stores up there(since I have a mule in downtown CHI. Regardless, I then told him I am from OK but I have heard leads on GI comming to OK in the near feature, to this he awnsered "I do not see OK on the distribution list for 2012,It may be difficult to sell some of our brands in stores because of the state’s 3.2 laws. The majority of our beers are over 4% alcohol by volume."
This was also bizarre that he would make that claim, since it shows how misinformed he is. That rule does not apply to liquor stores, but I guess it is a common belief since I have had many Texans tell me the same thing. I dont say this to rag on Reed, he has been a very helpful source and a real nice guy.
    Just thought Id contribute.

Why would they go through label approval for texas. They had label approval as far back as 2009 according to the tabc website on some of their beers. and yet know goose IS. in tx. it's expensive to get label approval here. but guess they have the funds to do it

I drove by an AB distributor south of Houston over the weekend and their big digital sign had a goose island logo on it saying "coming soon"

I'm told by Brown that they have a lot of product in house and have targeted next Monday for release.

As noted before, don't discount their other beers.

Christmas, Lolita, Juliet, Matilda, Madame Rose, and quite a few others are tasty beers. The Three Sisters (Lolita, Juliet, and Madame Rose) in particular should be treasured as well. I will be happy enough to get Matilda on tap like we've been told.

I'm not a fan of sours. Tried many times to like them. I called it quits when I didn't care for Consecration. The underlying beers was good but just couldn't get use to the sourness. But, I'm sure I'll give those a try if they show up on Houston shelves.

Uh... "Not in bordering states?" Tell that to my friend in Lousiana who was sippin on Matilda at a bar last month.

Also, label approval costs $25-ish per product/revision. Not exactly expensive for them to do. The brewery license piggybacks the AB license, so there's no additional cost there.

FWIW their IPA is an excellent single English-style IPA. I'm gonna buy the crap out of Sofie 4-packs.

I think you should at lease try a Matilda. It's mild and not a sour. I really enjoyed it. Also if Big John or Night Stalker hit, you will probably enjoy those.

Although BCBS is the best they make, don't think it's the only worthwhile thing they make.

I think people here have too big of a "Gotta Get the Rare Stuff" attitude. I understand it, but still try to try almost anything on tap.

The GI rep has already said that BCBS won't be hitting TX until next year.

July, because who doesn't love drinking BCBS in 110 degree weather?

Side note, can anyone image filling a pig keg of BCBS for toobing? That would be totally awesome.

well, with BCBS going "year round", its going to be hard to estimate, but I'd imagine around September.

Just the fact that we are getting it at all is bad ass to me. I bought around a case in Chicago this past October, so that should hold me over till we get it in Texas

People that get Goose Island want to bash it because its owned by InBev, but man do they make some of the best beers.

I cannot imagine the insanity that will occur when BCBS is released here. The hype train leading up to the release will drive people to tent out the night before the release at specs. Just to hoard it and put it as a FT before they even get home.

I hope people realize this stuff isnt hard to get and don't go apeshit. I picked up 16 when visiting up north very easily. Unfortunately Houston is probably the worst place I've ever seen about hoarding. Because of perceived rarity of Divine Reserve, the whole town goes bat shit crazy over every release. Sadly most of these morons who buy up everything don't care to drink it or even like beer that much. They see it as a status symbol or a way to profit. I can't wait for the craft beer bubble to burst in Houston so that people that actually like good beer can find it on the shelf again...

Hilarity will ensue when they realize BCBS is practically worthless due to it being in every other state. (By the time Tx gets it of course)

a friend of mine has been on the east coast for three weeks. On the way he's been on the lookout for anything rare/delicious and he got a BCBS for me somewhere. He's been on the lookout for more and can't find any.

I'm sure it flew off the shelves, but I still had an opportunity to buy a case while I was in Philly last month. I didn't but I could have.
