I don't know why I'm sad to say this, but I actually love the bottle and label change. I'm sure there will be plenty of discussion on it, but throw me in the corner of loving it. With that said, I won't go sit on sidewalks for hours or give up my car to trade for it.

I can't wait until Ohio sees none of the beers that were aged in the maple barrels that hail from 20 minutes south of me.... Guess I better start stock piling anything that might land me one. Beer, title to the car, deed to the house, so on and so forth

So is Rare going to only be released in Chicago or will it hit distro like last time?

What is a "cocktail cherry"? I sure hope it's not Maraschino cherries. Artificial cough syrup flavor, smell and color. The label says "candied cherries". No more 12 oz 4-packs and 22 oz bombers? Wow! That's some bs! Not digging the new bottles either and those tiny labels.

Luxardo candied cherries are "real" maraschino cherries. They aren't the bright red ones you see in many stores. They are also really expensive.

I attended a Goose Island tasting today.... great low key event. Different vintages of Matilda, Sofie, BCBS and Vanilla Rye. Anyhow, one of the head brewers was there and explained that brewers and other employees are encouraged to experiment with BCBS bottles and one of the experiments that was deemed the tastiest is becoming this years Prop. Pretty cool way to do it.

Copy this part of the link: goose-island-new-bourbon-county-stout-story
Paste it into Google or other
    Click resultant link

Some form of copy and pasting an article's headline into Google will get you around a lot of newspaper firewalls. Not that I would ever do such a thing.

True story: 4 packs of Bourbon County used to sit around and collect dust on the shelf. You could buy like three vintages at once sometimes. Hype and adjuncts only change so much for me; you're still that homely Midwestern gal getting picked last for the dance, Bourbon County, no matter how pretty a dress your new pimp bought you.

Heaven Hill barrels contaminated O'so's 'Barrel aged Convenient Distraction.' Anybody else concerned about what they may do to 'Rare?'

The very idea of maple syrup and peppers has me most excited for this year's BC release. Then I remember where I live, and my excitement goes way down because I can almost guarantee I will not see anything other than regular and probably barleywine. And I shudder to think what the price point is going to be(and limits).

Sounds like O'so didn't test their barrels for any possible infection before racking into them. That's all that means. It's part of the learning curve of barrel aging, and I'm sure Goose Island has experience in handling these kinds of issues.

The Regal Rye is actually made with Blackberry juice, Luxardo cherries, fresh sour cherries and sea salt.
