Great Divide Brewery & Roadhouse in Castle Rock, CO to open on June 1st

It might be hard to drink a beer while wearing a mask.

That being said, it sounds like GD went really "BIG" for their first restaurant/bar concept outside of DIA.

The DIA space is killer BTW so I'm curious if any of the creative team behind that venture was involved in this location. Could be a really fun place to spend some time.

 

Sounds huge, the parking is already jacked right there as it is. I hope they do well though.

 

They can do all that, but they can't bring back Rumble?

 

Been a long time but I was there for a couple iterations of Maddiepalooza, also used to do pint nights at Maddie's, and there seemed to usually be parking at the structure next to The Old Stone Church...

 

So not that long ago. That new to me, but anything less than 20 years old is.

 

I still buy Hibernation Ale and a few Yetis a year, but other than that I don't find Great Divide beer to be that enticing. The biggest issue I have with GD is their Denver tap houses suck - mind you I haven't been to one in a couple of years. Every time we would go the service would be completely and utterly terrible. I mean ridiculous shit like bar tenders wearing sunglasses, more hanging with friends than working, on their phones, more worried about adjusting their playlists than serving. I was really off put to the point that I just stopped going completely. Shame.

 

I was just checking out this new location, and found it strange that they are selling cans of Budweiser, Corona, Heineken, etc. I guess they are appealing to the masses, but that has to hurt every time you sell one. Am I out of the loop or are there many craft beer locations that sell big beer brands?

 

It's a Vibe restaurants (https://vibeconcepts.com/) venture, says specifically they will carry GD and non-GD beer in the press release above.

I've never seen this at a brewery with macro brands. Maybe a few guest taps for other craft brands, but I can't imagine any brewery serving Buttwiper or the Rona.

The "new location" is a restaurant, not a brewery, right?

Edit, you said "craft beer locations." Not totally sure what you mean by that. Bars that specialize in craft often carry macros still, but not all...

 

They're probably operating like a brewpub. You can get certain macros at the Wynkoop, Bull & Bush, Coopersmith's, CB & Potts, etc.

So far the menu only lists GD's normal lineup of beers. It'll be interesting to see what the exclusive options end up being. I doubt most people care, but I'd love to see some occasional GD classics like Bee Sting, St. Bridget's, Grand Cru, etc. Their Denver locations bust out the old recipes here and there, so I'm hoping this location does.

 

Coopersmiths serves macros?

 

I think so. They have a full bar. Usually that goes hand-in-hand with bottled macros from the cooler. I could be wrong, though. The 'Koop, CB & Potts, and B&B 100% definitely do or at least did. They closed all of the Potts locations down here, so I have no idea what they're doing anymore.

 

Thanks. I really don't doubt too much that they carry packaged macros, I've only gone there for the draughts and the casks.
