Happy New Year! New Monthly Grimm thread.

For info directly from their website
    http://grimmales.com/

Their new online shop is open. Check out their gorgeous glassware and shirts.

Grimm beers are usually in high demand (especially the cans). Cans have been limited to low counts per person. Grimm Artisanal Ales supply their beers at low prices (and have NOT raised their prices recently) to the distributor, who supply the retail shops, and therefore are not responsible for the final price you may encounter. They try to support the "Mom and Pop" shops that sell their beer. Hopefully, we should all support these small shops. Also available at select Whole Foods beer departments with limits to spread the wealth among your fellow BA brethren. :sunglasses:

The latest fitness craze has been the checking of this thread and Beermenus for their cans/bottles and running around town trying to get them before inventory is sold out. Needed exercise for some of our fellow beer enthusiasts. :grinning: If you miss out, you can usually find their beer on tap.

Post away and yes, Joe and Lauren (the Grimm's) monitor this thread and are great about responding to your questions and comments. Especially, if you tag them @Grimm_Artisanal_Ales. Great people, great couple, great brewers.

    Artwork

The beautiful Grimm artwork on their labels is designed by Lauren, about 50% from scratch and the rest using Gretta Johnson's (their longtime friend) artwork.

Check out http://grettajohnson.com/ for more about this talented artist.

The artwork on the Splish can is by Joe's old band mate, and incredible artist, Brian Alfred.

The artwork on Lambo Door, Awoogah, and Light Year is by the amazing Lauren Grimm. She can do it all!

The artwork for Sumi Ink label is by Sumi Ink Club (http://sumiinkclub.com/)

Their friend Maggie (Margaux Ogden) did the Zap design (http://www.margauxogden.com/paintings)

    Can advice:

Keep cold! Drink Now! Roll can to suspend hop particles.

    Castling bomber advice:

The yeast we used can throw off some sulfur compounds that some people are sensitive to. These aroma compounds are super volatile and will flash off if you pour down the center of the glass in Belgian fashion.

Upcoming Grimm releases for January (subject to change)

Color Field - new version, re-imagined as a dry hopped sour with hibiscus, rose hips, and chamomile (bombers/draft)

In Mid Air - Double IPA with Columbus, Simcoe, Citra, Wai-iti, and Mosaic (cans/draft)

Sumi Zest - Sumi base imperial stout with vanilla and orange zest; no barrel treatment (bombers only)

Skyspace - basically a raspberry version of rainbow dome (bombers/draft)

Blackberry Orange Pop! - dessert berliner with vanilla, milk sugar, blackberries, orange zest, and oak (bombers only)

Cube Cuvee #3: Saison de Coupage -- blend of barrel aged golden sour and young saison (draft only)

Do you intend to drink these or did you last night? If so, I'd be interested to know how the 6-month to year old IPAs and DIPAs tasted. haha

Big fan of Grimm, I'm upstate, seems we get enough of the bottled stuff but the cans are always like 1-2 individual cans per person

Thanks! It's been a blast collecting these releases this past year..Albany isn't great for much but we do have a lot of nice bottle shops and your beer is the single most sought after brand in all 10-15 shops I visit. I'm almost always able to get enough to try, share, and save! The only one I haven't tried is the Fantome collab and I'm very excited to bust into that baby! Grimm for life!

@ZSharp Any reason you dont drink the beer and just keep the bottles and cans? I've kept all my Grimm cans, minus a few my roommate threw out (damn you) No reason to waste good beer...

"More than 1 bottle" = Every bottle/can you can find around the city @orangebarius .
I'm not much of a Grimm chaser so I could honestly care less but come on, man. Don't make it seem like people in this thread get bent out of shape over you buying one or two extra bottles to share with a friend. From what I have observed, you go around to every shop you can and buy as much Grimm as they are willing to sell you. Then, you come on here and post your massive hauls. I will say that it does not seem like you have any malicious intent in doing so and you have every right but you should be able to understand why people are annoyed with someone who is buying up all the Grimm from their local shops and then posting about it.

i go to every shop and buy all i can? that's news to me. i only go to a few places and buy what i want if it's available. most places have limits, especially on cans. bottles sit on shelves at several stores, so yes i do buy more then 1 or 2 there. everyone has the same opportunity to buy what they want in this free market economy. it's comical to me at this point. i really don't care what anyone thinks about the beer i buy. notice the smiley face on my original post? i was just messing around.

i stopped posting my hauls a while ago. people just bring up my name randomly, so i respond to it. it's entertaining at this point.

    cheers brotha!
