The 16oz "growler" is only $13 at Beer Table - better than the $8 8oz. pours other places are offering. Yes the pricing on beer geek beers is way out of hand.

We don't have any control over what retailers charge for our beer. We price our beer so that with a reasonable markup, most bombers could go out for $10 and 16oz cans could go out for $4.25. Every store has their own pricing regimes that work for them. Beer Table Pantry has been a much talked about outlier in terms of pricing, but they have to do what they have to do to exist in Grand Central Station.

They also do also sell many of the bottles on the shelves cold, from the walk in fridge they store their kegs

While this is an oft-repeated complaint, I was on the lookout for both Super Spruce and Lumen recently. Called up Beer Table to Go and they said they were selling bottles for $20. Knowing this was high and how difficult it is to find Grimm in the city due to overwhelming demand - the demand is a true reflection of the amazing quality and offerings Grimm provides - I called up a few more shops and was able to find bottles of Super Spruce for much better prices.

For the Pulse Wave release, I went to Beer Table to Go, and not asking for the price, ended up looking at my receipt and astonished at the $40 I had paid for a 4-pack. Quickly learned my lesson.

We, the consumer, ultimately have the decision whether to buy or pass. After being unhappy with the price I paid for Pulse Wave, although I did love the beer, I simply call shops up to find out the price beforehand, and if I feel it is too high, I just look a little harder to find it elsewhere for a more reasonable price. But they are free to set their prices as they wish. As long as the consumer continues to pay, prices will remain high there.

The pricing is tough for Beer Table. I think Pulse Wave 4pks were $36 (so $9/can) which is really annoying and I would never pay that. But most places selling it (with a couple exceptions) were $7-$8/can with 1-2 can limits. So it's not hugely far off that pricing, plus you can get 4 cans. And as others said, it's in Grand Central and the markup is going to be absurd there.

With the exception of a couple off the beaten path places, everywhere that gets Grimm stuff and sells it at reasonable prices (like $5/can or $12/bomber) sells out within a few hours, sometimes less, even if they get it in the middle of a weekday. So if they can raise those prices a bit and still sell out almost instantly I can't really blame the business.

Speaking from my perspective, I like to at least try every Grimm release at least once (ideally from bottle/can and on tap, but that's becoming decreasingly realistic). Given how difficult it's getting to come by even the non-IPAs I may have to start paying more just because of demand, which is a real shame. I have a lot of respect for my local shops (like being able to score a 4 pk of Tesseract for $18.99) that keep prices low for the consumer, but it's getting tougher to score cans there unless you're in the right place at the right time. So when Lambo Door comes out in cans and everyone freaks out I'll probably pay a stupid markup somewhere for some cans because I don't want to deal with hunting around everywhere and possibly not getting to try it.

If only my timing and fortune for acquiring Lambo Door is half as good as it was for Super Spruce, I'll be a happy man.

If I had a place that was convenient to go to where I'd have to overpay and be guaranteed to score the beer, I might as well do it at this point. Making the rounds at the shops to get down their delivery schedules had cost me so much in sympathy purchases (to not seem like I'm only there on a hunting recon mission) that it'd probably be cheaper to just pay a 50%+ markup.

Did Grimm ever announce the canning of Lambo Door? Had it on tap last year at Barcade Chelsea and it was phenomenal! If so, when would it be released? Thought it was draft only last year - while they did say they would re-brew Lambo, will it be canned this time around?

I believe earlier in this thread they said February it will be canned and it would be their biggest canning run yet.

That would make me a very happy man, and I'm sure it would make tons of others very happy. February happens to be my birthday month as well so a little added bonus. Hope I can score some during the release!

Yep, Lambo Door canning was confirmed. That's still my favorite Grimm IPA - I remember it was on tap for almost a week at a local place (along with Super Going, if I remember correctly) and I went several times to get it. The good old days! Probably would kick within a day now, if that.

Got to try Lumen this weekend. Wow - the description is spot on - after I was done, I could smell the hop aroma coming from the dry glass from several feet away. Tropical to start, and sticky bitter to finish. So good.

Super Spruce has actually been relatively easy to find and I've seen it stick around on shelves some places for days. Have yet to try it though - might crack a bottle open tonight.

Crazy, maybe I'm just seeing an outlier? Milk & Hops Chelsea had plenty of bottles on Friday and still had some left when I was in there last night. Could be that they got them Friday though and the storm kept them around longer than they otherwise would have listed. I also think they didn't list it on beermenus so maybe people didn't know to check there.

Maybe Super Spruce was a smaller run than their other gose/wild ales? I haven't seen it on a shelf anywhere. @Grimm_Artisanal_Ales

If anyone is still searching I saw 4 bottles of Super Spruce at WF Chelsea tonight around 8pm.
