Half Acre Tap Room -- opening summer 2012

I will definitely be a regular at that tap room. Can't wait. At first I was going to say that I was upset about Gossamer and Over Ale, but then I thought about it and I rarely buy those anyway. I love both beers, especially Over Ale, but they come out with new beers every month and I usually drink the new beer for a month and then move on to the next month's. If Over Ale becomes a seasonal, I'll probably end up drinking it more, because I'll be looking forward to its release.

 

Exciting news! I'm glad the licensing came through.

Does anyone know whether they're going to be brewing stuff on the 15bbl brewhouse, or a separate system? 10 taps seems like a lot to maintain in addition to cranking out Daisy Cutter and all the special releases.

I'm sure I'm just overlooking something but where did you find details of their mug club? I'd definitely be interested in such a thing, but can't find any mention of it... - or is this just the reasonable assumption that they'll have one?

 

There was no mention, was just stating that I'll be parked in that taproom every weekend.

 

This is awesome, can't wait til it opens. No food isn't a big deal, you can just grab a burger at the Bad Apple across the street.

 

It'd be nice if they could expand North and take over the Wild Goose. They'd already have a kitchen and a nice bar set up. I guessthe people from Wild Goose probably wouldn't be too happy about that.

 

If Half Acre would continue to make Wild Goose wings, I could get behind this.

Otherwise, leave my wings alone.

Reviving an old thread to ask if there is any date set for the tap room's opening. All my searching yielded "August." Is this still the case?

 

According to the tweets and pictures of it today seems to be around then.

 

They tweeted earlier that the tap room was almost complete. Posted a couple of pics. Time line looks good. After all it could be ends of August so that's another month.

Yes, the Half Acre tour is good. Nothing crazy but a good time The brewery is very small and the tour is basically self-guided. You kind of walk around and check stuff out and then someone gives s little schtick and answers questions. It's $10 and you get a pint glass and 3 pints while on the tour.

Ah, thank you very much. I love Half Acre but they are so vague about events and beer descriptions. Sometimes it seems like they would rather write haikus then actually provide useful information.

 

They were really fired up about it and kept referring to it. I only wish they gave us a sneak peak.

 

The doors were open during construction a month or so ago. It actually looks really small. I wonder if there is any room for expansion (doubt it).

 

Stopped by today for some DDC and took a peak in. It is definitely a little small but is looking pretty nice inside.

I think the title of this post need to be changed to "Half Acre Tap Room---Opening Fall, maybe?"

 

went by today for some double daisy cutter. unfortunately, they were out. picked up a few bottles of sticky fat. bummed about daisy cutter.if anyone has some double they want to let go, holler at me.

i asked the dude about the opening, i'm sure i'm the first person to ask this but they said beginning or mid october. it'll be a silent opening, when it's ready it's ready. looks like the license for max capacity is 99 people. doesn't include seating.

 

I went in today and was also told mid to late October. The guy said that they're just waiting on some glassware and seats to come in, followed by a final inspection. I would normally think a city of Chicago inspection could take months and some under the table money but I know their alderman has their back.

 

They make no good beers anyway so who cares...
