I dug out a bottle of Hanssens Oude Gueuze and the only indication of vintage was a notch on the label marking it as Lot G.

I probably picked this up around 2011-12. Does any know when Lot G was made? Has Hanssens reused lot numbers?

I can't recall how it was fresh (if a gueuze can ever really be fresh). But now it's extremely sour in a very focused way. Clean crisp sourness that really gets a pucker going.

Cannot help much but this old thread might be of interest to you.

I'm glad modern Hanssens bottles have the bottling date on the label.

Thanks! That thread did have good info. I also decided to email B United and got very nice response.

"Thank you very much for your email, question + flavor/aroma observations. We are a bit ‘jaleous” as such old vintage versions of Hanssens are of highest value {and we don’t have any of these old vintage left in stock}.
Hanssens changed their labelling /dating in 2016..see below : bottled in December of 2016
Lot G : Was very likely blended + bottled in 2010.
    Best regards"

Mmm, I need to check my cellar. I still have Hanssens Oude Kriek 2009.
Will post later what letter is on it (I didn't think so but, hey, I might be mistaking).
