Cool with the 2 bottle limits, as they'll keep me from spending too much dough. Bummed that it's a 2:00 release time though. Looks like it will be an all-day affair.

So with the 2/person limit, does that increase the chance of being able to show up at say, 3 or 4 and still get bottles without waiting in line for 3+ hours? I'm driving up from Asheville, so definitely don't want to miss out, but I don't necessarily want to get in line at 10, either. Is bottle sharing allowed in line?

In theory yes, but no one could say for sure. The past few have lasted into the afternoon (some sunday) but it seems like everyone and their dog are coming to rva for this one. Bottle sharing is not allowed in line.

I think if you show up at 3pm the line will still be crazy long and at least an hour+ wait for bottles. I am guessing this will be as crazy as Trickery was on Halloween, if not crazier. Typically for releases, one could show up around 3pm/4pm and the line has died down quite a bit but I came by around 3:30 and it was still over an hour wait. I did not stick around but heard at around 5pm is when the line was super short and you could walk up and grab bottles pretty effortlessly. if someone is coming with you then that would be ideal since the draft line moves swiftly and you guys could swap out grabbing draft from the bars and enjoy them while waiting in line. It would be nice if they did a ticket system but I don't think that's going to happen just for the sheer fact of how many people are coming and HW just loves to see the masses wait. I personally am going to show up around 4:30/5:00 and hopefully they still have bottles. With a 2pp limit I think it will last for several hours if not carry over to Sunday. The only bottles I recall that sold out on release day was Ruse & Foolery so I don't expect this to sell out before pretty late in the evening.

I see the limits on these (KY Xmas and AB GBS) are 2pp where Trickery was 4 per - any idea how much they made of this compared to Trickery? Or asking another way: If I was lucky enough to score a Trickery after it hit distro should I have about the same/better/worse odds of these two?

Hardywood is usually pretty good about making enough to last at least the Saturday if not into Sunday a little. I am coming up early so I can guarantee bottles with no worried about leaving empty handed, enjoy some great stuff on tap and stop by Mekong and The Answer before heading back home.

If you are by yourself introduce yourself or at least say hello to the people in front and behind you when you first get in line. If you are friendly they should be more than happy to save your place while you get a draft especially if you offer to grab an extra.

Any chances Christmas morning and/or bgbs will both still be available for purchase the day of the ab GBS and Ky sale weekend?

I would think BGBS would be gone, it'd be crazy to imagine on the 19th you could pick up the entire GBS set

Just remember the line stretches far beyond the Hardywood property line, and they won't let you take that cup of draft back with you to get in line...

BGBS was pretty much gone when I was there on Sunday. They had both GBS and BGBS but only about 10 cases of each when I stopped in around noon.

There wasn't anyone stopping people from doing this at the Trickery release.

Good point. Failed to even realize that. Just to give an idea of the line this is how far it stretched back when I stopped in at 3:30 for Trickey. Of course if was 2-3 people wide so make it a correct single file line and it probably stretched all the way down Overbrook to Hermitage Road. [IMG]

Yes there was, you didn't see the cowboy? Stopped many a person from leaving the property. Hardywood could get into big trouble if the cops or ABC were to witness this.

They curved the line back into the parking lot instead of having it go into the adjacent property at BGBS. So you shouldn't have a problem this time around drinking in line.

Ya, that seems like a pretty decent plan to me as well. Don't fancy another afternoon in the Old Dominion Metal Products / Croakers Catering parking lot.

Just left the brewery. There's still a ton of BA GBS. It will defnitely be around for folks coming down for Xmas Morning, and outside shot it lasts until the following weekend. Saw at least 700 cases of Xmas Morning in the warehouse. There's a ton of that too.

So what time is everyone planning to line up? If I hope to be one of the first to be in and out at latest by 2:30p what time should I realistically arrive to keep on schedule?
