i have similar experiences at a store local to me. basically there are only 2 decent bottle shops in the county i live in about 50 minutes north of orlando. one is indian owned and they dont know bud light from hopslam. i go there every once in a while to see if i can score a diamond in the rough. they are priced actually accordingly to most other stores. last week i was in there and i grabbed two singles of aprihop and the manager actaully told me itd be cheaper to get a 4 pack so that was nice. the only problem is most of their beers are out of date and they dont seem to understand this.

the other store i go to gets some decent liminted CCB releases (marshall zhukov, moat water, white oak jai alai, etc). i have become friends with one of the beer guys there and i will bring him a copule beers every now and then. he actually was giving me a 10% discount, which was making the price stilll more expensive than anywhere else. my opinion was if its a buck or two more, i'll spend money there rather than have to spend money in orlando driving. the problem lies it is right next to a grocery store called publix that has actually gotten a lot better with their beer selection as of late. this past year we started getting sweetwater beers, and publix charged 7.99-8.99 a 6 pack. this store was charging 9.99-10.99 a six pack. i understand publix orders cases on top of cases of beer so they get it for cheaper, but does the average beer person understand that? when this store got LH milk stout nitro and charged 14.99 for it, ia lmost fell down. i told my buddy this: "this store is gonna lose business from the avg beer buyer when he/she comes in and buys a six pack for 10-11 bucks, then walks into publix and the same beer is 3-4 bucks less. that person will never come back." he said he doesnt do the pricing and the owner doesnt understand either, and i bleived my buddy. at one point there was 1 Stone vertical epic left and the price was like 27.99. i texted my friend WTF and he said the owner is going after peopel who want to do verticals etc. little does he know you can still find these relatively easy at decent beer stores.

i still go there for the CCB offerings, but thats about it. once again, there selection is okay, but many of their ipas are 9 months old and they have no aspirations on swapping them out. HOpefully, within the next year, i will be in business part time with a guy that runs a fresh market and i will make sure the beer is fresh and cater to the masses. within 5 years, hopefully, we can separate from the fresh market and open up a full on beer/wine store. i just think there are too many people that have stores that have absolutely no clue about beer.

Maybe he gave you discounts at 1st to gain your trust. Then figured you'd trust him after that. If you really feel he is trying to use you then get out. Find another place. If you can't go back again after a month or so and see if he missed you and is willing to work honestly with you. Some people deserve a 2nd chance. Good luck.

2.50 easily seems reasonable for breaking it up. 3.00 is tolerable imo. Though given that bombers are the same concept, less volume and you pay a markup....I guess 4 is still not THAT crazy if you just want one bottle????

I don't recommend yelling at building, I don't think you will get much accomplished, plus it makes you look crazy to others.
