I will be in town with my wife for the marathon race June 2nd-5th. Recommendations on where to go? Plan to hit town hall for sure. Looking for recommendations on the following:

    1-Breweries to visit
2- Best Stores to buy beers (lots of surly will be coming home with me I hope)
3- Restaurants that have a great tap selection

    Thanks!

Might as well stop across the street at Republic for a beer if you are at TH. Might be difficult this close to your date to get a Brewery tour with any of the big kids in town. Four Firkins, Zipps, Ale Jail, are all great stops for your off sale selection.

steel toe is open that saturday morning from 10 - 12, while they don't have tours then, they would probably be happy to show you around, they have great beer.

summit has a new west coast style ipa that is pretty great, might be worth grabbing a sixer of that.

also, depending on when you go to town hall, I am sure some of us would be down to go grab a pint.

Will you have a car? If not things might get a little difficult. Note there is a bike rental program where you could bike from Mpls to the liquor stores (I think there is a front "basket" but bring a backpack).
    If no car:
    1) Fulton Brewery has a nice tap room in addition to TH. There is also Harriet Brewery close to downtown.
    2) Zipp's is closest liquor store. You could also bus/bike to MGM (by Lake Calhoun on Excelsior) - they aren't a fav but this location does have Surly. Another excellent option, about 5 mi South is South Lyndale liquors. [if you have a car, see ChrisConn's recs]
    3) Butcher and the Boar (has terrific taps and a great beer garden), Devil's Advocate, Public House (haven't been but the taplist looks good). If you go to NE Mpls (across the mississippi), Bulldog NE, Red Stag, also a few nice bars on St. Anthony Main across the river from downtown (you can take the stone arch bridge). If you go uptown, Muddy Water's is great and has great food (on Lyndale Ave S).
    4) Try and catch a Twins game to get to sample Surly Bandwangon (Sec 124).

Pracna and HauteDish. Definitely HauteDish . Harriet's taproom is fun and fairly close to Zipp's. If you are around that neighborhood, you should hit up the Blue Nile as well.

Let me know if you drop by HD, I always love talking been and food.

Make sure to hit up the Four Firkins in St Louis Park if you can. There is no other store in town like it.

Acadia cafe is pretty close to town hall too (rough neighborhood from what I understand) and they are supposed to have a pretty good selection too. Crooked Pint was pretty decent when I was there a while back, live music too on the weekend nights.

Acadia is about 2 blocks from Town Hall. The "neighborhood" isn't rough. Like any major urban area in this country it is best to be conscious of your surroundings as there may be some shit heads about, but all in all it is a relatively safe part of town.

Harriet Brewing's taproom is open now with live tunes and/or vinyl spinning and different food trucks wed-sat. Would be very relaxing before or after a run.

Happy Gnome and Muddy Pig are both good bars, and very close to each other.

Love both places. The Gnome has a bit of a wider selection, and you will pay for it. The Pig has more of a bar feel and has a lot of local brews. I think they both have 50+ taps in house. If you are in St Paul, these are your can't miss places and they are about 1/4-1/2 mile from eachother.

Yes, both those places (Gnome and Muddy Pig) are terrific...recommend leaving your car and walking between the two. You might also check mnbeer.com or mnbeeractivists.com as they have events that might be worth checking out that weekend. Go to four firkins then since you have a car, you'll be impressed. As for breweries, you might be able to get into Flat Earth in St. Paul or Liftbridge in Stillwater (about 25 min from Minneapolis). Also in St. Paul is Heartland that is one of the Twin Cities best restaurants.

Listen to him, I don't get down there very often at all. Friends who went to Augsburg were the ones who told me it was kind of rough. My apologies, I gotta just shut up and keep lurking
