Sampled a can of heady-topper today and thought the taste was good, grapefruit and orange stands out.But I can see why they want us to drink from the can because it looks like dirty goldfish bowl water. no carbonation to speak of, kind of flat, like a homebrew thats not done yet.Im sure I'm in the minority with this, but I think its overhyped and there are better dipa,s out there...Thought I'd put this out there for discussion..

Do you know when the Heady you sampled was canned?

People have different, palates, likes, and can differ in opinions on any beer no matter the hype? Lies I say!

Heady Topper = Best DIPA in a can
Pliny the Elder = Best DIPA in a bottle

Send me your IPAs you don't like. I will like them.

It's unfiltered and looks pretty gross, but that's part of the charm. I'm definitely with you on the appearance being why they say to drink from the can (until the brewer says otherwise I'm going to continue to believe this), but to be fair you can just pour carefully and leave most of it in the can.

Also, I don't really think Heady is hyped. I think it gets a lot of praise, but that's not the same thing.

Ugliest beer I've ever greedily consumed with an evil grin and drool dripping down my chin.

I got nothing but pine from the beer, and totally loved it. Plenty of carbonation.

I agree that it's "drink from a can" because it looks like watered down vomit. It is overpoweringly aromatic from a glass... so I am going to drink it from a glass at all times. It's like... a kinder, gentler turpentine.

I beg to differ. I would take Abrasive over Heady Topper (and Pliny, for that matter) any day of the week. But I wouldn't turn down Heady or Pliny.

I have friends who don't like Hunahpu. So not caring for Heady Topper is no big deal. Everyone has different taste. I will personally bathe in Heady Topper. Different Strokes for different folks.

I pour it as sloppy as I possibly can to make sure all that heady goodness makes it into my glass. Sure it doesn't get an A for presentation but the smell... the taste... this one gets to me.

I had two cans (one completely flat the other mostly flat) in a case I split with my brother. I emailed the brewery and they apologized and said they would replace any flat cans if you bring them in. I live to far away for that but it was a nice gesture.

I don't think it is overhyped at all. It is simple one of the best tasting DIPA's that I have ever had the pleasure of drinking.

I am really looking forward to it. I have been on the site for a while, but just started trading recently. By the end of the week I will have had my first Heady Topper, Pliny, and KBS in a matter of a few weeks. Life is good!

You'll pop the can open and it'll smell good in the whole house! Okay maybe not that much but at least in the whole room.

oh god, shut up. "hype" is not "people like it". other people like it and you don't.

what the hell is wrong with you people who start these threads? go post a bad review of it and move on.

It looks like that because I believe it's unfiltered...I haven't seen any unfiltered pale anythings that look sexy yet. As for the flatness, I'd say you got a bad can.
