I love Stouts and IPAs as much as the next guy but, honestly, the range of craft beer has been constricted by those style and, to a lesser extent, the fruited sours. German, English and Belgian styles have been crushed. I like the idea for Barleywines but could really go for something to broaden people's palates.

Remember English ales? I think we need an English styles renaissance fest!

Barleywine and/or stouts would be perfect for Q4 this year. Belgiums for Q2 next year, followed by sours for summer & pastry stouts for fall.
We need at least 2 events in cyberspace every year. Live drink-alongs are a lot of fun.

Pick one or multiple regions and select hard to find beers from that region. I’m thinking top 250 beers that are abundant in the region where the brewery is but not available elsewhere. I’d buy it!

Barley wines would be great, as would fests that focus on individual countries - Belgium, Germany, England, etc. Another idea would be to do a rare beer style fest - pick the beer styles that are hardest for the average person to find - faro, happoshu, sahti, roggenbier, etc. and build a box around those. How about a box built around GABF medal winners?

Forgotten Fest…collection of beers from styles that are regularly overlooked or have been forgotten. Necromancer Brewing in Pittsburgh has been striving to bring back these styles, & I think they’d be a great invite to such a gathering.

    Another vote for barleywine.

In terms of timing, that week between Christmas and New Years is interesting to consider. I know plenty of folks travel and that it could be a mild pain for BA staff, but a ton of folks have off that week, are looking to drink some big beers and could ask for a box as a holiday gift. Big beers, a quality glass design or other swag, could potentially even up the price a little. :beers:

I like some of the out-of-the-box thinking of quite a few people, but everyone should (if they don't already) realize that to make this happen, BA has to pair with a brewers that have to take time in their production schedules to produce packaged offerings for the event. Presumably they would like to be profitable as well, or at least break even (maybe some good will for some of the better off partners).

And to bring it all together, they need to find about twelve like-minded breweries whose schedule can synchronize, to a degree. Stepping back, I can appreciate the effort that goes into it and will be interested in what comes together, especially if either of the heavy favorites works out.

    Cheers from Arizona.

The thing I love about EBF is getting to try beers with crazy ingredients. Some of the things that stood out to me over the last couple of years were Hot Cheetos and Taki’s, squid ink, mace, onions, hot dogs, mackerel, snuff and tobacco. Granted, I don’t believe I finished these completely at the time, or could in the future, but they are so much fun to try and I think that spirit shouldn’t be forgotten.

I’d also appreciate Utopias in can or maybe a miniature version of the normal container.

No matter what fest is decided upon I would like to see the format used for the first three virtual events used for this one. I enjoyed the banter between you and Edgar along the brewers insights into their creations. The extreme box was no where as enjoyable.
