Hickenlooper, or "Frackenlooper" if you live in Colorado, is hoping that brewers and beer lovers will get his back in this recent video that panders to us with eye rolling beer geek references and zero substance.

"But we can't let hazy IPA and pastry stout divide our nation any longer."

    ICYMI: He's running for president.

His request might get more traction if he were to change his name to Hazenlooper.

Yeah, he was a "fine" centrist Governor but he's too milquetoast and run of the mill for 2020.
I keep writing him, as a Coloradan, to just run for Senate against Gardner if he wants "in" so bad but... just doesn't have the substance. But being a brewer in no way prepares you to be 'ready' for public office, just asinine.... that's as deep as I'm getting into the politics today. Back to my Lizard King... aaaahhh...

Beer pandering politicians? I like my politics non-pandering, thanks.

But...since ye'ol fracking subject was brought up:

I got a chance to have my truck covered in soot repeatedly from fracked well flaring, people with well water suffering from weird inflammation when I lived around those parts which has not been explained otherwise....I have many, many more stories like these, but it suffices to say: Heck, I was there.

Now, to tie that comment into the current thread and not be a dirty thread-jacker: at least Hick was pushing for VOC and Methane recapture/controls instead of letting it fly or mass flaring if I remember correctly. So there's that...if these rules were in place, it might not have gone down the way it did in PA.

Your assumption: All politicians are panders.

Therefore the logical contra-positive of my comment might read, while under your assumptions:
    I don't like {pandering -> all} politics. :stuck_out_tongue:

But it was - originally - an April Fools' Day joke. Note the date of that video, March 31 and the release day: "On April 1st the pioneering Denver, Colorado brewpub is releasing this unique creation."

Only later that year did it become a "real" release:
Of course, I thought the same thing about the video in the OP. :astonished:

If there's a weird groupthink in America, it's that it's somehow inherently unwise to make a distinction between two objectively distinct political parties.

I took a little look-see at Wynkoop Brewing Company's page.
Average beer rating 3.55, place rating 3.89, only three out of 61 beers are rated above 4.0, nice mix of styles though.
Now it appears that Hickenlooper did do a lot of positive things for Denver and Colorado, founding a small and averagely rated brewery is not a big deal.
I'm glad that he recognizes "craft" beer drinkers and brewers as an important voting block but I'd rather vote for Love22.

Nah, I never said it was unwise to lean one way or the other, or support candidates you enjoy. If you align 100% with a party (like every single twitter and facebook poster) I consider you an idiot. That's where my opinion stands, and that's the dangerous group think that pushes people either absolute left or absolute right. Courage in one's convictions is becoming more and more rare.

And one's convictions should be predicated upon independent critical thinking, a skill that is not being taught (and in some instances frowned upon) in contemporary school systems. Maybe some folks learn how to do this at home via their parents but I tend to doubt it.

    Cheers!

The notion that aligning 100% with the democratic party would mean a person is on the "absolute left" is I would say a pretty bad read on the current state of politics in America.

    LOL!

This reminds me of an old episode of the TV show MASH:

“They eventually take him to the Officers Club, where Frank gets loaded, flirts with Nurse Kellye, and then passes out. Hawkeye and B.J. drag Frank home, and in their drunkenness, write up a toe-tag and put it on Frank, declaring the body is "Emotionally exhausted and morally bankrupt."
