Thank you sir. I enjoyed the beer but most of Alpines and Kern Rivers stuff blows this out of the water IMO.

I went to Cali last year and had to see what all the hupla was about Pliny the Elder. I had it and it was a great beer but it didn't blow me away. I'll take a heady topper of it any day.

Big Eddy Stout is one of the worst RIS I have ever had.

That IIPA is really really damn good though

It wasn't very highly acclaimed, but it was very over-hyped. Sam Adams Infinium absolutely sucked.

Agreed. Certainly good, but I paid $13.95 for my sixer and still thought it was overpriced.

I was completely underwhelmed by Surly Darkness. I've had different vintages, aged and fresh. I just don't get the hype...

Recently it was Deschutes Black Butte. It wasn't a drain pour, but for all the hype it received and the high score on BA, I was disappointed with what was in my glass. I found it shallow in depth and sort of artificial in taste. I so expected a WOW and got an eh?

I definitely agree. In all fairness though there are only a couple of porters that I really like all that much.

Smuttynose IPA, "Finest Kind." Rather average to me, especially when I can have a fresh NEBCO Sea Hag

I agree when poured in a glass. However, this is one of those few beers that I enjoyed ice cold straight from the bottle. Light and refreshing. This is something I could drink in the summer.

For me, the best porters for the money are Firestone Walker's Reserve Porter and Central water's Mudpuppy porter.

A summer porter. I never considered this before. Sort of like the idea of iced coffee? I'm going to put a bottle away and try this in July.

Founders Breakfast Stout. Totally disagrees with my mouth :grimacing:
Also, DFH Immort Ale. While not "hyped", it is however the first time I was ever disappointed with Dogfish.

Easy one - BCBS. Hot, sweet gloppy mess of a beer.

I hereby revoke your ba card. (can I do that?, start a petition or something.)

    No really, Nugget Nectar? Impossible.
