I recently saw a haul from a BA that included a HF keg. I was wondering what the process would be to go about purchasing one.
Go there and buy one. Obviously, not all his offerings are availible in kegs, but they'll sell you a keg of Edward or any other year-round non-limited. I had Edward and Double Galaxy at my wedding. No hassle... Just went up and bought them. Reasonably priced, too.
yeah, it's an unusually large deposit. FWIW, Edward kegs are often up on the board as being for sale. you don't even need to do any sweettalking or anything. never realized i might be able to get a sixtel of something more special though.
Last time I was there a few weeks ago, I talked to the kid behind the counter. He said they only sell a few kegs a week. I want to say they take reservations starting on wed at 10 am and they usually are all reserved within minutes.
I've heard a lot of conflicting things about reserving/registering kegs. Edward seems to be the best bet though.
I was there yesterday and they didn't have kegs, so if your going up that day, might want to call to see if they have kegs available to purchase. They don't use outside kegs like they do growlers
I went in Feb and a guy who came in had reserved his prior to his visit. With that said, it takes 4 minutes to call them and ask before you make your trip, not too hard.
Woah woah woah you mean I have to use my phone to call instead of searching for this information on the Internet? And your saying it may take less time to find my answer and actually be more reliable?
This is 100% true, I tried to get a keg for NYE this past year and the first thing that was asked was "did you reserve one?"...No, so Hoponius it was
Not to mention they're quite friendly and helpful when you call. Just like they are when you visit. It's almost like you're talking to the same people!
Was there today, Edward Kegs were listed on the board for sale, deposit was definitely $100, and I believe the prices were something like $90 for 20 L and $130 for 40 L (I'm going off memory though so not 100% on those prices). Edward is awesome too.
Just talked to them - sadly it sounds like they are pulling all consumer keg sales for the foreseeable future. They can't keep up with the commercial demand.
I hope this changes ill be damned if I am drinking anything other than HF on my wedding day. Don't plan on gettin married for a few years though.
If it is the BA I think you're referring to, he's just very very very well connected in the beer world. That keg was not bought and driven back to his location, it was shipped by HF.
