Awesome. They had that on tap in July and I loved it so much.

In Nebraska until Tuesday, fortunately a friend grabbed me a bottle.

What was the bottle count on the Clarette release? I was expecting to see more trading action for this long time want. Are Seattle folks trading it on other sites these days?

Kind of a mind blowing concept, but sometimes we buy beer to drink it.

Consider my mind blown. So what was the bottle count? Surely there are some traders out there somewhere.

i don't think holy mountain provided a bottle count (and i'm not sure if they ever do). it always seems to be in the range of 500-1000.

i'll speculate a bit on the lack of FT: it was released on a rainy Saturday after Thanksgiving. this probably limited the amount of out-of-towners showing up.

Deadfall is BBomb levels of awesome, but has a much lighter body. Whiskey notes are incredible. Wish this one was in bottles.

Got to try this one at Big Wood on Thursday and was blown away. One of the two best beers I've had from HM, and that's saying something.

Also had Deadfall at Big Wood. I agree with the comparisons. To add another, it struck me as an Old Ale with similarities to BA4D. Fantastic!

Got it. We're supposed to memorize every short-hand name, of every beer, by every brewery, everywhere, all the time, so that we can be in the know. I'll get right on that.

I think some folks spend a little too much time in the ISO threads and are of the belief that if you don't know every single acronym utilized on those threads then you must be a noob. That's at least what I've gathered through having this same discussion with some folks in the Pet Peeves thread (I would include a link but we got to having too much fun and most of the related posts were deleted).

I'm still learning. I may start making it akin to a signature just to be on the safe side.

I'm considering going on a 'Report' rampage through random threads in the other Regional forums just for shits and giggles.

This was duly noted, even if at least one of them was a hastily appended edit.

I suspect the problem may have been the original post itself, which, IIRC, had a lot to do with an upcoming soccer game and very little (nothing?) to do with fermented liquid refreshment. OP was from Canada, too, so I blame not just him but his entire country.

Anyway, and...uh...apropos of nothing, but Deadfall sounds really tasty. Maybe it's worth a trip to the HM taproom.

Hands off my deadfall, it is too delicious to share. Scryer's throne which they didn't even announce publicly is also delicious.

In response to some of the posts above.

Under the code of conduct section, it states the following:

"Don't post off-topic content. If it's not about beer or its culture, it doesn't belong on BA."

I've been a member of the community for some time, and there was a time when this policy was not so rigorously enforced. However, that was some time ago, and there's been a huge increase in membership since that time (I've been given to understand). Unfortunately, I think it's fair to say that there has been an increase in the number of folks who try to circumvent the rules, try to push the boundaries, and see what they can get away with (mostly in trading forums, but elsewhere as well). Consequently, my impression is that there's now much more of a "no exceptions" to the rules attitude, just so there's uniformity and everyone knows where they stand. I think that makes complete sense, but even so...

I've always had a weakness for baseball banter, but from now on will try to continue to always focus on beer on BA. :-) Cheers!

As always, a fair comment from the moderator, but if we become only a beer community without haiku, baseball and the like, won't we lose risk becoming not ourselves? This is us. We are the PNW BA Community...let's keep it weird.

And, seriously, Oregon doesn't even have a baseball team

But they do have a soccer team...which is currently playing golf.

    So I declare: let's
go Sounders, Red Sox, Pats, and...
    uhh...clam guns? Deadfall!

Not at the MLB level, no. But there's a Minor League Baseball team (Class A League) that plays in a stadium over in Hillsboro, a few miles from my house.

The name of the team? The Hillsboro Hops. Their mascot is a giant hop cone.

When someone makes the claim that San Diego/Denver/Asheville is the best beer city in the U.S., I smile indulgently and ask them if they have a professional sports team named after an ingredient in beer.

And, I would posit that sports, in all its incarnations, are a part of beer culture.NASCAR, baseball, hunting, fishing, soccer, football, beer is deeply intertwined in these pursuits. Hell, some recreational softball groups are even called "Beer Leagues".

When it comes to baseball and beer there is no one even close to St. Louis. Beer vendor can't even go down a single aisle without running out. And it's like that the entire game. I've never seen anything like it anywhere and I've been to most venues.
