I was wondering the same, but I don't think it's a date (other than the 2017 mark). I've seen 0401, 0402, 0403. Plus, there is no way KD has been sitting since early April haha.

It sucks that quite a few people are taking advantage of the system, but I think it isn't gonna change. I'll take my allotment (often, with less than the full amount) and laugh at those spending $300+ on cases of beer.

To those who attended...any word on if Key Bump will be paired with another beer?

I think you answered the question in your question...this is craft beer in 2017

Konkey Dong is my favorite beer they brew so I was looking forward to a teku. Unsurprisingly, I got shut out. Got there at 10:55 and figured I was around 100 deep. Oh well. I still have the gold balloon Konkey glass, but I don't think it's nearly as cool as today's teku. I'm a glasswhore though and enjoy drinking beer in its branded glass.

Jesus Chris I thought you were joking in your first post--this is absurd.

I'd love to counter your point, but I'm afraid you're right. These guys are weak asses. As long as beer's getting sold and they can get people out of their hair that quickly, the don't give a shit about the abuse.

Would be awesome if they did actually enforce the rules... and those with multiple (or 20) tickets get denied to a single ticket only.

They don't really care about their customers. If they did they would employ at least basic rules and structures to their can releases. I think they don't know how to deal with demand and they don't intend to learn.

They are happy to feed their egos with lines of people who aren't even going to drink their beers in the first place. Its evident by the way the brewers believe that creating a product with a strong trade demand is a sign they are doing things correctly.

In other words, they welcome the trade hoards and the hypemongers. It makes me wonder why so many people are return customers.

If you (as a whole) stopped forming lines then they would have no choice but to sell their beers in stores and make them available with short notice and without the need for ticketing (which they already do to a fairly reasonable degree as long as its not a HypePA).

To be fair about the 22 ticket thing. Pretty sure that was a cincy guy since there is usually one or two people that offer to mule for the cincy beer group. A lot of people jump on that offer. I don't see anything wrong with that. It seems they always have cans left over anyway. Why not let a person pickup for someone that wants the beer? They would sell a lot less product if they enforced the single ticket rule.

I was also disappointed to miss out on glassware, but i didnt get there early enough. I got there at 11 like the dude a little above this post although I thought there was easily 100 people in front of me if not creeping towards 150. The line was huge. Bigger than I have personally ever seen it.

Right on point. That's why Jackie O's is the best. If they made a cloudy double IPA comparable to KD it would be a customer focused release as opposed to HH. These guys clearly don't care where it ends up. I have my 12 of KD and will enjoy them myself in my boring plain snifter. Cheers!

Do you really think that would've happened with Konkey? The problem is that this will become the trend now. The good guy offers to mule this time, next time there will be 4 of those guys. Why we don't see good guy mule doing the same for the less popular releases? There are a bunch of regulars who support them for all releases regardless of hype that couldn't get tickets. On the other hand there is a mule carrying 22 allotments away. If you don't see a problem with that you're part of the problem.

I'm guessing people are annoyed that this guy grabbed way more than 2 glasses, most of which are probably for people that didn't go. There had to be 600 people turn out today by the time I left around 2:30, so that's 15% of the glasses gone to one person. Yes, the butthurt is real!

I believe they would sell MORE product to MORE people. If there are 22 people instead of 1, I'm guessing most, or at least half, would get something on draft and maybe a growler.

Maybe some of their new beers wouldn't sell out, but ones like Konkey, Dragonsaddle, South of Eleven, etc... would sell out if there are 200 or 800 tickets available. But, none of this supports HYPE.

Jackie O's will never release a "NEIPA". They have been in the brewing game way too long for that sophomore shit. Any competent brewer that's been around longer than 4 years brewing chicken broth is simply trying to remain relevant. There's a lot of breweries you'll never see touching the style.

But at any rate, you are correct in the hypothetical. Jackie O's has the beer release model perfected. The main thing about the Athens crew is they genuinely want to foster a community. They care about every single customer's experience.

Edit to say in the hypothetical that Jackie O's would debase themselves enough to make a beer similar to KD I think it would be beyond comparison to the Fart Whiffer's beer.

Simple one allotment per person with no exceptions seems like it would be pretty easy to enforce

True. And for those who want more, it's really not that hard to drag a SO along for a second allotment.

Exactly, I've never gone and brought two tickets with only one body. It's a little irritating when I see people do that and couldn't bring myself to do something I don't feel right about, even though two tickets is a lot more forgivable than 22. If I'm going for two allotments the old lady is coming with me. Unfortunately that doesn't hold true for others, so Hoof has to enforce something. ...It's been a while since I've dragged her along because of how obnoxious it gets on hyped release days.

I'm kind of embarrassed to say I've gone around promoting the way Hoof does their releases in the past because it used to work relatively smoothly. Tickets are a commendable method of guaranteeing an allotment as opposed to forcing people to line up with the uncertainty of getting anything. But if there is no enforcement of how many tickets a person can have then they've undermined their own system.

As a first timer, I was a bit confused by the time I got up near the food truck. Could I have brought a growler with me and went and got in the growlers and cans line at any time? Could I have just gotten in the growlers and cans line with no growler? I was disappointed they weren't selling any merchandise either.
