Oh you're a life saver! If I had more data I could back my ass up.

We could all use more data, but I'm only on a 10gb plan and I have to share it with my mom.

I'm with you. I believe we have talked to many of the same people and the respect I have for them is a lot more than I have for anyone brewing at Hoof. Just my two cents.

I don't know what this means.

Anyway, I didn't want names, I was being sarcastic. You must know a lot of brewers and brewery staff and have great relationships, I wouldn't want you to ruin that. I was asking for more information on your claim, not the brewery's data charts for deciding against a style. You said to take your word, why? Are you a big deal or something?

We'll just put it this way; for the most part, I think, if a brewery hasn't yet pandered to the haze craze they probably aren't planning to. However, this mostly pertains to the older breweries, like a few that have statewide distro.

And a lot of that is coming from first hand accounts or just from knowing their character and beliefs.

I saw stone is planning a haze IPA for august. For an industry the prides itself on being unique and innovative I don't understand the hate for the haze. Obviously nobody has to like any style and brewers should make beer their passionate about, but there seems to be something more than a casual "that's not for us" with regards to haze from a lot of breweries.

There is a difference between haze and chicken broth, IMO.

I'd agree with you. But like others have said there is a difference between IPA/DIPA and west coast IPA/DIPA and I don't remember the breweries and the community being so passionately (to put it in a positive light) divided.

I believe it is because many both in and out of the business view the chicken broth-looking IPA's to be unfinished, unclean beer. I am not here to argue either way (pretty sure most people in here know my stance on Hoof). I am just relaying the opinions I have heard.

This is where those breweries that fail at the NE IPA made their mistakes--assuming you can just over hop a beer and not filter it since those certain breweries think NE IPAs are just unfinished, unfiltered regular IPAs.

There's really only a handful of people that are doing it right, even only a handful of beers claiming the NE IPA name that are made right and taste good, and not all of them are totally opaque muddy or tan, like Codename: Superfan by Odd13.

Not to mention doing stuff like adding flour to the beer.

What I find telling about Hoof Hearted and their ability (or lack thereof) to innovation is that every conversation about them eventually devolves into a discussion about hazy style IPA.

It's one thing to be known for something but it's another to be known as something.

So I move to rename this thread Haze Canning Company #103.

All in favor say "clear"; all opposed make little farting noises with your mouth.

Do you think Hoof is doing it right? Asking seriously, not trying to troll. In my experiences, they are not. Totally fine if you feel otherwise.

As you've mentioned, or someone else I can't remember, there is a Belgian yeast-like quality to a lot of their brewpub beers, and it's less present in their canned beers but it's still there. I don't think they've quite nailed it or cracked the code--not sure anyone has ever fully divulged the process in detail but it's obvious a lot of people are struggling to replicate it. I think Hoof is largely succeeding, although inconsistently and not all the time.

There are a few that have come out that are truly delicious in their own right. I'm not sure I'd call South of Eleven an NE IPA, just because it's hazy, because it's so dank and cannabic. I just can't get enough of that one, and even after a few months it hardly changes.

Dragonsaddle 2.0 (lol) and Konkey Dong are pretty solidly in the NE IPA realm, and I personally think they compete quite well with Tree House and Trillium.

I'll Have What She's Having, Everybody Wants Some, Roller Babe, Tickling the Ivories, and Did We Just Become Best Friends all smell and taste like slight variations on the same theme. I've done side by sides and they aren't that drastically different, but I also think they are all pretty tasty and at least passable for the style if not better.

That being said, it seems like for every success they have, they put out 5-10 real head scratchers.

While for a time, I was on the receiving end of some winners, the head scratchers ultimately outnumbered the successes.

Eventbrite has the tickets listed for Key Bump. They are limiting proxies to allow for each individual to only get two allotments total.

4x4pks per ticket on this one.

The eventbrite description must be a lie. Based on what everyone says in this thread, Hoof doesn't care about their beer or their customers. Weird.

Has anyone had Key Bump before? How does it compare to Dragonsaddle?

IMO definitely on that level. Probably in my top 3...I make close to every release, so I've had my fair share of variety.
