Thank god I've never seen a line that big at HH.

Will be sending a buddy on my behalf for the first time this Sunday...how exactly does that work? Do I literally just forward my ticket, or is there more to it than that? Thanks!

You are correct. They scan the ticket from my phone...

What time does everyone think one should show up Sunday to get some Pineapple Clipboard?

early! I'm surprised they have any left. Key Bump didn't last long last week. I'd say 10 if you really want it.

I was at Hoof Hearted for the first time last Thursday. Pretty cool place. $60 Nachos was pretty tasty. Good beer, but holy hell the bartender...she couldn't have been less pleasant. Hopefully she isn't there that often.
Also hit Land Grant (not very good) and the new Brew Dog in Franklinton (excellent).

Probably a Buckeye fan who knew you are a Mountaineer fan. I kid! I doubt the HH bartenders give two shits about college sports.....sorry to hear about your experience.

"Wiistband" I always pretty much assumed these guys were only semi-literate.

I'm pretty sure a Wiistband is the wristband you attach your Wii remote to so it doesn't accidentally go flying when you play

Regulars... any opinions on recent HH? I've been cutting back on my purchases as I've realized I simply don't need a half/full case of beer so frequently.

I can't tell if the general interest in them has waned... or if it's just me.

SoE was as great as ever. Latest batch of Konkey was pretty bitter. Musk was really good. Sour IPA was a bit disappointing but a nice porch beer to keep in the fridge for the rest of summer.

Hype might not be there for every single release, but Hoof is steady these days IMO. I'd put SoE, Key Bump, and a couple others up against most NEIPA's across the country.

The 2-hr drive to/from got old for us from Cleveland and simply not worth it once a few of our friends stopped going and our whole-day campfires, cookouts and bottle shares dwindled away. So I’m really not driving down there just for beer. I enjoyed hanging out all day… Getting there at 9-10am and staying until 6-7pm and being the last people out of the parking lot was common almost every release.

I’d like to go down this fall at some point, if I can get all the old crew to show up once again, but we shall see.

It’s been a while since I had a Hoof beer, I’d be curious how it’s been as of late because around the time we stopped going, the beer just wasn’t as good.

Seems like tickets still sell out fast but people do not purchase the full allotment. Thus the Brewpub in Columbus gets a lot of the extras that don't sell.
I choose to take my chances and go to the Brewpub the next week to pick up a 4 pack or two with a ten minute drive versus trying to get a ticket and then having to drive to Marengo on the weekend (30-35 minutes).

Also they have been releasing the same beers it seems over and over again thus there is not as much hype in the current haze bro market.

imo from after Dragon Saddle to well into this year their beers were off. malty and/or oxidized. SoE was horrible earlier this year, but 2 releases in a row it was back to stellar. Last couple of months Hoof beers were back. Wish they'd do beers like Stacking Papers in Marengo and do the repeat beers at the Kitchen. EWS BF and Musk are done too often while the Kitchen gets some new beers (cowboy, etc, even if it was only ok). my 3 cents lol.

the line was long last Sunday....they had leftover Konkey because people buy extra tickets. I had friends trying for tickets just to make sure I got one for myself. others do this as well, so I think lots of tickets go unused or not for max allotments.

invertalon, the shares are better than ever and earlier than ever. Have made so many friends at Hoof its always a great day.

I've gone several times since October last year but had never gone previously so I don't know if that makes me a regular and someone with the insight that you're looking for. I continue to be more impressed than not. My favorites of the last few months include Key Bump, Pineapple Clipboard, South of Eleven (this latest batch is $$$$), Roller Blabe, and Wangbar. I like the thick creamy stuff. Recent Konkey Dong has been underwhelming for me. EWS Citra, Zipper Ripper, and Dork were good not spectacular. I actually like the Sour IPA quite a bit, but admittedly I know nothing about sour IPAs and what's good vs. not. It's just a good summer beer IMO.

When I go I come from south of Dayton so my commute is similar in time to yours and I still find it well worth it. I do not make a day of it however. Wish I had a crew like you do as that sounds like a shit ton of fun.
