I guess I’m glad I went this morning to pick up a 4 pack after turning it down yesterday. Of course, I’ll probably hate it now. :grimacing:

Always a pleasure to meet a fan but there's like a whole line of people here so, maybe we can chat again next time.

So, I never had an opportunity to try Blaze Orange until now, and I'm sadly pretty disappointed. I'm a huge fan of drinking Shaun's Marbles, so I know I like the style, but this was a miss for me.

    Tasting notes?

Too sweet? Not sweet enough? Orange wasn’t present, or didn’t integrate? Body lacking?

I’m drinking one now, and enjoying it. Hard to recall how it compares to DBO. Feels like body is thinner, but that it is less astringent. I don’t get as much sugar/vanilla (cream) flavor as I remember.

Missed Blazed Orange Milkshake but got Waveburst on Friday and I super like it. Wish I picked up a second but will keep an eye out for it in the future.

Hm...not crazy about Waveburst. It tastes really sweet and all I'm picking up is a one-dimensional citrus note. I do like the pithy OJ aroma and totally get what @Jplachy is saying about the smell/taste difference, but the flavor just comes across as muddled and undifferentiated citrus. I also think it's weird that the beer is pretty highly-carbed (almost spritzy) but the sweetness just kind of coats the mouth and lingers. If this were a wine, I'd describe it as cloying and imprecise.

I find this review to be shallow and pedantic.

On topic, I'll likely be trying a Waveburst tomorrow so I'll report back any additional findings.

So you're saying that it's reminiscent of the majority of my posts on BA? Consistency, baby; I'll take that as a compliment, kind sir!

Agreed that Waveburst is too sweet. Normally it's their "doubles" that are just sugar bombs. The rare ones that have a bit of bitterness are absolutely amazing.

Blazed Orange Milkshake is the best milkshake I've ever had (though I have only had a few). That said, I am still not sold on the style. I get what it's doing, and this one is success, but I just find 16oz of these to be too much. Even 8oz is a lot, and if I can't enjoy 8oz of something, I'm not really interested. It's just so much as a style, especially so much sweetness. I love the feel, but the flavor profile doesn't do much for me.

Wave Burst, on the other hand, I find stunning. This is such a unique beer full of weird fruit, tropical and otherwise. There is something weird, dank, and gin-esque about this, too. It's just such an interesting beer sip-in and sip-out. It's just...weird, but in the best way. I'm in agreement that this is without question one of the best NEPAs I have had, and I need more lower ABV stuff from them ASAP.

Well damn, I'd love to join this jerk circle. Is Wave Burst still hanging around shelves in the city?

Yeah, mikeshake style is very hit or miss, and usually miss, for me. I generally hate vanilla added to ipas so these have to really bring the body and fruit flavor to get it all to work together.

If you're ever near Windmill, I'd highly recommend trying their double milkshake ipas. Do draft first though as their cans have been wildly inconsistent.
