I'm really curious what the bottle date is for the batch that landed in the Triangle today. My friend has gotten me some straight from the brewery on release day and it was bottled 1/3/13. Curious if the batch in the triangle is the same batch or a fresher batch.

Sam's had some this morning, 2 6-pack limit, sold out quick. They are doing another release at 5pm.

I doubt it. Tryon pallet aged it for us.

Hmm... Tryon has been able to get Oarsman to us ~5-7 days from bottling and Smitten was only 7 days old when it landed I think.

Dang, the Hopslam that hit Tampa was the 1/23/13 batch and we got it about a week after that. Damn distributors.

Just got off the phone with Total Wine in Cary and they confirmed it is coming in today, they are not sure what time though. I’m going to be a complete ass and call every hour until that stuff comes in. I missed out on Sexual Chocolate, I’m not missing this one. lol

Record number of cherry pickers this year and we have only been open 30 min. Welcome to the craft beer revolution.

This is the reason why I am boycotting Hopslam day this year. Let the newbies get their hyped up beer. Plenty of great DIPA's floating around. If I see it later in the week on my weekly beer run, so be it.

Geez I sound like an old fart complaining about running around to get beer. Better drink some PBR soon to feel young and hip again!

That's the second time I've seen you mention PBR today. You're cut off, sir.

I don’t disagree there are some better, or at the least comparable DIPA’s, out there that I've had before. But you go out to get this quickly if you haven’t had it before because it is hard to get your hands on if you’re not quick on the trigger. In fact at Tasty Bev in Raleigh it was almost gone after the first hour.

Davidson beverage had 3 cases left around 5:15. Not sure about a limit, I just grabbed one sixer. They'd already gone through 7 cases since around 1:30.

    1/28/13 bottle date.

Based on tweets I saw/texts received from shops today:

    Sam's first release, 1h 15m or less
Sam's second release, under 5m unless they started selling before 5pm
    Tasty Beverage, around 35m
    Ridgewood, about 15m
Triangle Wine was down to 3 4pks plus one case they were selling 2 bottles/person in 25 min ... picked up a 6pk for a friend who was working late.

I'm not terribly choked up about this ... lots of other great DIPAs out there. However, this bodes poorly for KBS next month. True story, while I was picking up that 6pk, someone asked the owner if they had KBS. Was really hard to bite my tongue!

Luckily, I bypassed most of the rigamarole and was still able to land a little Hopslam.

Obviously, Hopslam is different in many ways than Sucks, but on the enjoyment scale, they're pretty much equal for me.

I propose we all keep our mouths shut about Sucks and all other widely available, world class IPAs. In fact, I say we talk them down a bit. Who's with me?

Just did a quick side by side with hopslam and sucks. While sucks is definitely a great beer, it's not even close to hopslam. I'll take hopslam over sucks any day of the week, even with the price tag.

Luckily my good buddy was able to grab two 6 packs from Sam's this morning. It will be our first time drinking Hopslam. We missed out last year(about the time I got into craft beer).

Had one tonight, IMO nothing special, but less sweet than last year which is a good thing.

Didn't chase it as much as last year, but still lucked into some in the triangle. From what I have heard, there won't be a second drop as in years past. Anyone heard differently? Definitely not as sweet as last year, but still damn tasty. More balanced and more body than Sucks, so no need for anyone to rush out next year and buy *any* Sucks. ;) Now, when do the kegs of Hopslam start showing up at the Bee and Sam's?

Busy Bee tweeted 5pm tomorrow. Sam's may or may not have a keg, but they haven't said anything that I've seen.

If some of you missed getting some in Raleigh, the guy at Total Wine at Brier Creek told me they are selling theirs Saturday at 9am. Said it was for some kind of event but I cant remember what.

Reading tweets and fbook posts. seems like a ton of Hopslam made it to the area and it sold quicker than ever.

Wow, that was here & gone in OH weeks ago..Crazy, folks still haven't got it yet?!
..I thght (we) were low on the list for stuff (in OH). I gotta be honest w/ you tho..as a True IPA guy..(this may upset some people) but, I passed on the Hopslam this yr. I had a Few diff opp's for it..but with how much $ it was a 6pk ($18 here in OH) - I just feel there are way too many other & Better "IPA's" out there, sorry.

-AND I Don't mind spending $ on Good beer..I just don't think Hopslam is/was ever That great..for all the Fuss :(
    my opinion tho

Not sure how accurate this is, but the guy behind the counter at Peace Street Market in Raleigh said that they were getting a few more cases Thursday morning 10ish.
