I drink quite a bit of the bigger craft breweries. Honestly there's too much great beer available to drink all national craft brewers or locals.

I drink virtually 100% craft beer, and probably 90% is Michigan beer (I'm defining the entire state as local), and 5% out-of-state and 5% homebrew. Of the 90% Michigan beer, 15 points of that would be from the two breweries in my home town (local local).

Yeah, I tend to be really balanced as well. For some beers the best choices are imports, so that's what I buy; for others it's national craft breweries, and so on down. By percentages I'm probably more of a 'regional' drinker than anything else, but that just reflects the quality/value of where I live and the bordering states.

Sometimes I consider Fort George (in Astoria) a state away...but living in Portland, it's just great. pFriem in Hood River, Bend & Sunriver...imports (in OR, mind you).

I jumped the WA border for work & grabbed a sixer of Fremont Interurban, today. Felt far away in Vancouver. That was like European-level import.

    I'm probably 75% in state
Course CA is a huge state. Right now I'm drinking a Stone milk stout that was brewed in state and 8 hours away.

I used to drink at least 90% Michigan beer until I discovered that Sierra Nevada is making some really great Lagers. Now it is more like 50% local and 50% big craft.

I'm spoiled and live in San Diego so I mostly drink local but I'll drink anything that tastes good.

I would say I do favor the "large" craft brewers. But I'm from San Diego and Arrogant Bastard was the first craft beer I ever had. (Back in 2002). I came up on Stone so I'm quite loyal to them. Also very partial to SD breweries such as Alesmith, Ballast Point, and Green Flash. Newcomer Modern Times is coming out with great stuff too.

I've always enjoyed Deschutes from when I was in college - Black Butte was a go-to for me whenever I was up snowboarding. Their IPA's are terrific too. Being in the bay area I think I get to call Lagunitas MY local option. We are also spoiled with Russian River, Cellarmaker (growlers only, no bottling or distro), Knee Deep, FiftyFifty. Even though the last two are in Auburn and Truckee, hey I call them local anyway.

I would say about 70% of what I drink is from Kane, 11 miles away, or Carton, 15. Most of that is Boat.

If you're from NYC check out Barrier Brewing Company. They're an amazing NY brewery and still super small.

What's the definition of local for this poll - is it proximity, or distribution footprint? Is Great Lakes Brewing local to me because it's in Ohio, or is it non-local due to being a 5 hour drive away and/or distributing to a bunch of other states? Is Jackie O's local, being 2.5 hours away by car and having a minimal distribution footprint that, as far as I know, doesn't get outside Ohio? Is Columbus Brewing local, at just under 2 hours away with even more limited distro?

I could have worded the question better. I'm interested in both proximity and size, but probably more in size. Great Lakes has pretty wide distribution, so I'm more interested to know if you're trending toward drinking more Jackie O and Columbus. If it were me, I'd be drinking Bodhi exclusively!

I like the idea of assigning percentages. Because I do still drink macros when out at weddings, sporting events, etc..

    Macrobrew: 5%
    Big Craft: 10%
    Locals: 75%
    Homebrew: 10%

50% big craft, 30% local (in state), 15% homebrew, 5% other.

I haven't had time to brew in a while, but I plan to do a couple batches here soon. That should change the distribution a bit.

What's in my fridge right now is almost entirely local (a full six-pack, a partial six-pack, and a single bottle from Virginia, plus a single "bigger craft brewery" bottle.)

Overall I probably drink more of the "bigger craft brewery" beers than local, since I drink a whole lot of Sierra Nevada and New Belgium. I've had more different individual beers from Devil's Backbone than from any other brewery, though. My "macro" intake is mostly limited to the bigger Mexican/European imports every now and then, if they count, though occasionally I'll try something from Bud/Miller/Coors just to see what it's like (after the awful experience that drinking through a full 12-pack of Busch Signature was, though, I'll be sticking to single bottles/cans of these from now on.) Haven't ever tried homebrewing, though my dad used to and has mentioned that he might like to get back into it again at some point -- so I may end up helping out with that at some point (or at least being a taste-tester. XD)
