Over six months ago, I agreed on and completed my end of a trade with another BA. Upon receiving them, the BA drank, reviewed them, and kept up conversation for a while. Then he went MIA. First, he said his computer broke and he had to use his smart phone. Then he lost his job and didn't have the income to do it. Then he proposed an idea of fewer beers spread out in a few packages instead of one large package coming my way. I was receptive to this...I just wanted to get back what was owed. It was not a huge trade (maybe $40) in total, but it's more the principle of the matter. He had been in touch in January and February about getting beers to send my way, but I have not heard from him since the site has been changed around. He was last active a month ago and I'm starting to think I'll never see my end of the bargain come back around. Does there come a point where I throw the guy's name out there? Any tips on what I should do here?
Anything over a few weeks is grounds for an outing Bad Traders need to be exposed before they rip someone else off.
Please search for user oldp0rt and add this user to the bad trader list. Also out him in the forum so we know who this dude is.
It's safe to say you're not getting your beer. To me it's all about communication. I don't really care if it takes 2 months if legitimate issues arise so long as the person stays in contact. I use BA on my iphone a lot - a few things may be slower, but there's absolutely nothing you can't do. Messaging is as simple as writing an email. Definitely time to throw out the name.
Sorry, no. If they had any activity before the site changed over, you can't access it anyway. Sounds like they went AWOL and really didn't have much of a rep to lose. I checked on RB and it looks like they signed up and never used the site again. I doubt that they will ever come even. Different people will have different takes, but I think even two weeks of no response (one if they have site activity, otherwise they could be on a trip or something, so I would be somewhat hesitant to pull the trigger too soon), is at least enough time to let them know that you will be forced to start a bad trader thread if they don't respond. They may have a legit reason why they cannot send, but if they're logging into BA, there's no excuse for not spending 30 seconds to respond to a message. I don't see this person coming through, but I certainly hope they do for your sake. At this point, they could easily be on the site under a different ID*. Just curious: did this person have a trading history? *Hope I'm not giving them any ideas!
He tried to make deals with me when CBS was coming out claiming he was on 9 different lists to get some then one by one all of the stores "screwed him" I think and he didn't have any to trade.
You can still access some of his information on the old site. Here it shows he has updated his hads as of a month ago. http://beeradvocate.com/user/beers?ba=paxchristi&view=H
Guy doesn't look like he has much of a trading profile and is basically on a throwaway account. As always, make newer traders ship first and beware of noob-to-noob deals. (especially those that don't even post in the forums)
