How many beers do you drink at one time?

I have spectacularly low alcohol tolerance... rather a bummer for a beer enthusiast. When I'm in the States (the country where I work does not have much beer worth drinking), I usually split a 12 oz. beer with my wife at dinner. If it's a special occasion, I might make it up to the equivalent of 2 bottles of ~5% beer (over the course of 2-3 hours). Definitely agree with Cyrion above, though -- even if I could drink more, my taste buds are usually shot after 1 or 2.

 

On the weekdays I usually open a beer with dinner and drink it over the course of dinner + 30 min (though they are generally >7%). On the weekends I might drink the equivalent of 2 or 3 bottles in an evening. To be honest my threshold for really rich beers is generally 2-3, unless its something really special or I am out on the town for a big night. I generally get full before I get drunk though...

EDIT: Except in the case of heady topper, which for some reason always makes me want to drink more beer...

 

I try to keep it to 2 per night...sometimes it's more. Of course, some nights it's scotch or bourbon instead of beer.

 

at my annual physical exam my doctor asked if I drank alcohol... I told him I was a beer drinker..... he then asked how much I typically drank....

I replied 8-10 beers....

he looked shocked and worried and responded.... "thats bordering on excessive alcohol consumption for a week"

at that point I couldn't tell him that was my average per night.......

I drink one beer at one time

 

I teach AP European History and I coach cross country and track.

With that said, during the school year, I drink a bomber once and twice a week, usually when I am grading papers, lesson planning, or writing a test. If I have a meet, I don't have anything that night because I get home so late.

During the summer, I'll drink a bomber and a 12oz a few times a week, unless I run late (8-9pm). I usually can't drink anything heavy (which is all I usually have) after a late run.

During football season, especially on Saturday nights during Gamecock games, I'll go anywhere from 6-10 12ozers, depending on what I'm drinking, which is usually something sessionable.

 

I stick to 1-2 beers on weeknights (M-Th), then usually 4-6 beers on weekend (Fri-Sun).

 

2 per night during the week. On weekends I give myself a treat, my usual 2 plus a bomber!

 

At the end of a long day...1-2. When I have some beer buddies over for an impromptu tasting...3-6. When we schedule and plan a tasting...how ever many bottles are brought + whatever drunk me pulls out of the beer fridge. Numbers are numbers. If you and your friends are enjoying good beer together, what does it matter? Great beers look pretty in pictures but taste SO much better when you drink them. Cheers!

 

usually try to keep it between 2 to 3, need to be 100% the next day. anything more and i'll need some recovery time the next day, guess that's acceptable on the weekends though.

 

2-3 in general. But sometimes if I have the entire evening and nothing to do I'll go up to 5-6. Those tend to be low alcohol beers though. Also since I've been training for mud runs I've been going that high less often because I've been holding up starting drinking to go running in the evening.

But there is a chain reaction effect sometimes. Like, the more beer I've had, the less likely I am to want to go to sleep. 11:00pm on a work night, I've had 1 beer, I go to sleep. 11:00pm on a work night, I've had 3 beers, I stay up till 3am.

Heck, it's 1am now, I just finished a full bottle of St Bernadus ABT 12, and I'm rationalizing staying up later. Not a work night in this case.

 

Depends on the day of the week.

A week day, 2-3, maybe 4. The weekend, as many as the situation permits.

 

Usually 3-4 on a weeknight. Weekends = ?????. I count food calories and Mountain bike 50-60 miles a week so calories is a non issue. I've lost 10 lbs since the spring with beer drinking every day. Beer weight gain is a myth if you know what you are doing and don't eat shitty food.

During the week it is one and done. On the weekend I can never decide if I should drink 15-5% beers or 5-15% beers. It is usually the latter.

 

2 - 12 oz or 1 bomber/750. Easy rule to follow regardless of ABV.

 

Anywhere between 1 and 15.
