While i agree that every review is a rating also i note that ratings are more subliminal and tells very little about the aspects of the beer to someone that wants to try the beer or has had the beer, a written review while still subliminal is much more objective to others , so again IMO Review >> rating

I think I only have two reviews on here and 400 or so on Untappd (in the past six months or so). I was drinking various beers for years before I got the app, so my total count if I had to guess is somewhere in the 750-1000 range... But only recently have I actually rated stuff for my own personal remembrance if a beer was good or not when I forgot about it and attempted to buy again a year later.

Almost 1000 since 2011, but have been drinking beer since the 80's.

779 beers so far. So few were ticked overall that I did not count it up. Most are reviews.

My answer is always: not enough. (though BA ratings are <700)

I used to keep everything in Excel, but BA works better for me (allows me to access via phone, tablet, etc).

I think I arrived on the craft scene to late.

To me, reviewing a beer online makes me feel like I'm beating a dead horse. A lot of the beers have hundreds of reviews.

I also can't help but feel, who really gives a hoot what I think about the beers I consume. I'm no Johnnie Beer, and I don't think any person(s) is either.

Reading reviews before trying a new beer is not the most wholesome way to try a new beer. Let the beer speak, not the bozo's

You caught me at 498. I responded honestly in the poll, but would have answered differently if I saw this post next week.

Just hit over a hundred a few days ago. I like to write reviews for the beers I've encountered, partly to keep track for my own drinking purposes (as a kind of memory journal/sensory input record), but also because I like to go back occasionally and compare the beers I've recently had to stuff I drank a while ago (and as time goes by, my sensory memory fades, so it's good to have a description of my own for comparison). And finally, I just do it for amusement. Sometimes I write vignettes about my experience that are humorous (at least to me) and hopefully somewhat entertaining for those who read what I have to say. Cheers!

Just a small handful. True, I haven't been here that long, but think I'll likely post only a few more. The reason is similar to post no. 66 further up. There are so many good reviews, here and at RB, on virtually any beer you can imagine. Not that many more are needed really. Except, I will say, I like the verbal descriptions. A simple numerical rating doesn't really tell me much. Fortunately there are enough verbal descriptions over time that you can get a fairly accurate idea of beer taste. So I rely on those interested to rate. Also, rating while important just goes so far. Our own palate is the best guide. But it's still useful to read reviews, I enjoy doing that here and read them for a long time before I registered.

I have rated 600 but only 230 are reviewed. Admittedly some of those may be pretty weak reviews. As many others have said, there are folks with 1000s of ratings/reviews who are far more experienced than me. I know there are people who have a far more refined nose and palate than I do. I am only just starting to get some confidence in doing reviews, and even then, I go in with trepidation. I do like to rate and I prefer the expanded system of appearance, smell, taste, etc, because it lets you give a fuller opinion of what you are drinking. I tend to rate/review first and then look over others and see if there are commonalities with others. I also look for my "trusted reviewers" to see what they said (if applicable) to see if my nose/palate is getting better.

I'm aiming for 1200 by the end of 2015. At 742 right now, so that comes out to 54 a month. I worry for my soul :grinning:

I have 3027(written) as of last night. Reviewing new beer is a nightly ritual for me basically. Assuming I can keep finding new beer to review I should be at around 3500-3600 by the end of the year.

    None.

I don't really look at beer reviews on the site, as I have an excellent feel for what I like and don't like in beer at this point, and I'm not particularly afraid of buying something that ends up being a "waste." Live and learn.

I do look at place reviews, and consequently, I will review places from time to time.

225 on BA, and probably another 100 more in my notebook that I've never input online. I always think it should be more, but I'm probably too cheap hehehe
