I've seen there were around 90 000 beers reviewed on Beer Advocate in 2013 ; how many are there now ? It's kinda difficult to find this figure... Thanks !

On BA? We're now listing nearly 300,000 beers. In the world? There are tens of thousands of breweries, so I'd have to guess that there are well over a million individual beer brands being brewed each year.

I trust the current progress in medecine, maybe by 2500, people will live forever, and therefore could drink 1 million beer.

How times change. When I began drinking in the UK around 1960 it would have been possible to sample a pint of every brew in the country. Most just offered a Mild and bitter and possibly a Best Bitter too. Not counting bottled beer, just what was available by the pint.

I'm amazed by the 300.000 beers listed here that number is about 10 times more brands than I would guess in my wildest dreams, but more incredible is your guessing that there are a million brands out there, this number is amazing and overwhelmingly.

Even faced with such tremendous odds we must soldier forth doing our part to keep consumption apace with production.

    How many grains of sand?

You will never try every single beer in the world. It's a disappointing yet fascinating idea

I suspect a person could not even keep up with all of the new beers coming out daily, at least not if you plan to keep that liver. Fun to think about such things - for instance you'd be quite rich if you somehow obtained all the coins lost daily in the US.

Just because you will not be able to sample all of the beers made, doesn't mean you cannot try.

For every beer reviewed or listed I would probably say there is a good amount not catalogued.

I would say any beer I've rated north of 4 out of 5 is a GOOD beer, currently that number is the top 264 out of 869, however (God willing!) that number will strive inexorably forth until the end of my time on Earth :stuck_out_tongue:
