29 total. I'm a little surprised I have so many, but I'm pleased to see that the vast majority--actually, all of them except for Heady--are styles that can withstand a little time.

Honestly, I'm only actively cellaring about half of these, and all of those are beers I've tried fresh and just want to compare out of curiosity:
    1. Heady Topper (#1)

Heh. Good questions. To preface my cellar size, I'll say I live in a 3 bedroom apartment in New York City (not Manhattan) with my wife and 2 small children. So, needless to say, space is at a premium.

Including the 38 in the top 250 that I mentioned earlier (and multiples), I have exactly 150 bottles. 4 of these are in the fridge (which is unusually many, because I happen to have 3 growlers at the moment; I usually only have 1), while another 38 sit on the floor of my coat closet; these are mostly bombers and 750s. A further 17 are currently in 4-6 pack holders under my bed; these are all 12 ozs. These are my active list, i.e. the bottles move from there directly into the fridge the night before I intend to drink them. The remaining 91 are my real cellar, which get added to the active list as time goes by. The "cellar" is located on the floor of one of my bedroom closets behind the shoe rack and next to bins filled with old toys that my kids don't play with anymore (saving those for the next one that comes along).

As I accumulate beer, I often need to be creative about where they go. Some might just stay out until I drink enough to clear space. Other times I'll find space under the crib or in other places.

Is this the best cellaring method? Definitely not. Does it suffice for the time being? Absolutely.

Didn't even know about the beers of fame list... thanks! I like that list a lot more than the top 250; wish it was featured more prominently on the site.

The top 250 list just says top 250... not top 250 that are big right now. I think that clarification is important.

Based on your comments about the Top 250 I thought you might. The clarification isn't official, it's just kinda how it works; both lists are based on the average rating given by users, weighted to how many ratings given.

The difference is that the Top 250 has no further restrictions (other than being an 'active' rather than 'retired' listing); whereas Beers of Fame requires at least 10 years of having been around. As you can see, a majority of the Top 250 list are new beers, many of them driven (at least in part) by hype, and certainly by industry trend.
