How much beer do you buy strictly from California?

I’d say 95% as well. Picked up a can of dragon fandango though yesterday and that thing was a super tasty kettle

 

I'm 100% CA with hops. I'll occasionally buy a BA dark beer outside (Fremont, Bourbon County) or Belgian lambic or De Garde sour. So 95% also seems about right.

 

Last time I bought beer it was 27/36 beers from CA, so 75%. But the non CA beers were a 6 pack of hofbrau maibock cause I'd never had a maibock and a tripel karmeliet cause I've been revisiting Belgian ogs just to check in. Most trips to the store it's probably about 100% so I'll guess 90-95% overall as well. We got a good thing going over here

 

100%. No need for me to buy anything other than local now, the options are so good.

 

95% sounds right for me - I'll pick up Heady or Daisy Cutter on the rare chance I see it; maybe a Belgian lambic here and there; otherwise there aren't even any out of state beers I look out for. We live in a great spot to have access to tons of amazing and local beer.

 

If money were no object I'd probably buy about 50% Belgian beers, 40% California made beers and 10% other. Since money is an object I buy about 90% Californian, 5% Belgian and 5% other. I do feel lucky to live in the state with the best selection of awesome breweries in America.

 

100% for me, although i am buying more from Nor Cal these days because of the availability of shipping. I still love our So Cal breweries, but it's good to mix things up and try stuff i usually don't have access to.

 

95%. Backwoods Bastard and other Founders BA four packs make up most of the rest.

 

Probably 99% for me. If places like Treehouse and Other Half distributed out here more, then it would be another story.

 

I buy beer pretty much exclusively from 6 breweries, and they’re all here in California. Bottle Logic/Horus/Modern Times for BA beers and stouts, Monkish/Green Cheek for NEIPAs, and Beachwood/Green Cheek for WCIPAs. Occasionally if I’m looking for sours I’ll go to Bruery Terreux or Homage, but that’s not very often. I hardly ever trade anymore because all of these local places keep my fridge stocked with world class beer and all the style variety I could want.

 

95%ish? What I buy from out of state consists of memberships and releases from those same select breweries.

 

Outside the rare east coast cans that make occasional appearance’s it all pretty much west coast for me.

Yeah 90ish% sounds right. Looking at my current stash it's all California except for the Bitburger/Sierre Lager collab and Mother Earth from Nampa Idaho but some cans are made here in Vista. I buy Fremont, Revision and a few others on occasion.

 

90-95% from CA, most from southern CA (minus SARA obviously), and the rest from Brussels.

Unless I'm looking for something specific, there's just no reason not to support local breweries given all the readily available excellent beer.

 

I’d say a good 95% of my beer collection is from CA... I have some Avery and Jester King in there, but yeah, mostly CA.

I try for local but I’m not obsessive. Went to Trader Joe’s yesterday, 22 of 24 cans purchased were SoCal. Ventura, Ventura, San Pedro, Inglewood, San Diego, so 92%. I’ll buy imports that I really like (Weihenstephaner) that are on sale but there are so many breweries that do so well with foreign styles (Trumer, Two Coasts) that there’s no great need to look elsewhere.

 

I would also say probably 95%, with the overwhelming majority of my beer buying being done at three breweries: Beachwood, Highland Park, and Smog City (Monkish, too, when they were open). The other 5% is Belgian beer

 

almost all of it. I trade for stuff every now and then, but strictly purchasing wise, there isn't much need to look further than cali.

I think everything I picked up on my last outting was brewed in Califas. Unless I’m traveling (or at the local Russian market/in the mood for a curiosity pick) most of the beer I drink at home is brewed in-state. I worked the occasional Schlenkerla/Orval/Oregon import more frequently pre-sheltering.

 

Probably 90 percent from California, 9 percent from Belgium, 1 percent from elsewhere.

 

Easily 90% or more , nor cal accounts for 75% or more as well

I’m at or around 80-90 percent Cali craft. Only because I love Revision. Some kind of Rev cans are always in fridge. I have 9 cans in there now. I just finished off King Sue & Psuedo Sue. So those don’t count. From the California side most of my purchases are local. OC/LA. Been enjoying Casa Agria cans. When I fly To NorCal I always bring NorCal cans back. So no need to ship from any of the breweries north of LA.

Revision probably sells way more beer in CA than they do NV. Considering it’s a very short distance over the state line and was originally planned to be in Sacramento, it’s practically a CA brewery!

 

They have plans to bring Revision Brewing to California.

Not at all. They’ve been doing two releases a week with curbside pickup and have had some cases for CA shipping maybe once or twice a month.

 

no, but the curbside pickup online order thing seems like such a shitshow I don't bother with it. When they were open, I would just go for pours and growler fills. Even in the first two weeks of the quarantine, the walk up cans were pretty easy to get.

 

Let’s face it... CA has something for everybody:

Want a good sour: Russian River, Rare Barrel, Firestone Walker, Blendery, Bruery Terreux, and the list goes on...

Want a good Barrel Aged beer: The Bruery, Bottle Logic, Moksa, Modern Times have it.

Want a good IPA: Monkish, Fieldwork, Alvarado Street and Moonraker have you covered.

Want a good REAL IPA: Beachwood, El Segundo, Altamont Beer Works, Drakes, Knee Deep, Pizza Port, and Russian River have them!

Want different stuff: Stone, Lost Abbey, Cellarmaker, Sierra Nevada, Henhouse, Fifty Fifty, and many others have you covered!

I don’t think I am intentionally Cali-Only, but when there is so much good beer just here, and it’s pretty easy to get, it’s easy to forget about others.

Heck, the only reason why Avery has such as special place in my heart is because I first jumped into Craft Beer while interning in Boulder for a summer... come to find out CA had a kickass beer scene.

 

I mean, unless you score in their online can sales (which are a complete joke by the way), they are effectively closed to the public entirely.
