Don't they usually have an electronic horn/speaker on the front that plays music? I can always hear ours coming forever. Wait, we may not be talking about the same thing...

I've always been more of a thrill of the chase kinda guy. If I find it in the wild going thru the store shelves, it was meant to be, beyond that life is too short to truck chase for me.

Personally, I don't see how people have the time or money to do stupid shit like chase trucks for beer. I've maybe "been there, done that" but my time is too valuable to be doing this. There's tons of great shelf beers and local breweries putting out great beers, is nonsensical to put yourself through that shit for some beer. Then again, there are a lot of people, including myself a few years back, that overindulge on beer, rare beer, trades, etc.. to the point of unhealthy levels. My advice... DON'T DO IT! Spend you're time, energy, and money on more fulfilling things in life. And if chasing trucks for beer is the most fulfilling thing you can do with you're time, energy, and money.. well then you're doing something wrong.

The way I see it, many distributor workers are just working to make a living. They may know some stuff about the beers they have. But nothing really too in depth. It's not until they get asked constantly about a product that they then ask their friends about or look it up online. Rare factor or "I gotta try this now" definitely can come into play. Anymore, I am afraid to ask my beer guy about a product he may find to be "popular" and hold back product, or raise the prices. I don't think I'm loyal enough to any one place, so I'd be "that guy" who only asks about the limited stuff. They never hear from me when I go in and out with $40 worth of goods in under 2 minutes. It's all a game and a hassle most of the time. I usually just walk into places and if they have it on the shelf, i'll get it.

This, I dont chase trucks but a friendly conversation with a delivery driver or distro guy that stocks shelves and has access to the back room storage areas of every bottle shop in your area can give you some helpful tips and inside info on places you may not have thought to check.
