    What's Discord?
In a nutshell: Discord was launched in 2015 and originally created for gamers by gamers. It's not social media. It's a free voice, video, and real-time chat app that currently has over 150 million monthly active users (over 300 million accounts) as of 2021 and welcomes countless communities and topics beyond gaming. Servers are broken down into text and voice channels, grouped into categories, and controlled by admins, mods, and often times bots that can assist with specific tasks and activities. Members can also boost servers to unlock perks and advanced features.

As for BeerAdvocate, we've been on and off of the platform since February 2018. In June 2021, I rebooted the server as BArmy. It's not an official BeerAdvocate service, but you're free to join and hangout for some basic, fun, and ephemeral real-time chat.

I recommend downloading both the desktop and mobile app, but you can also access it via your browser. Once you've downloaded and installed Discord, simply create a free account and then click the following invite link.

    Embedding Images (Pics)
Now that you're on Discord, you can also use it to host your images for "What beer are you drinking now?" or any of our other online tasting threads. It's wicked easy too!
    • Go to the #wbaydn channel
    • Upload your image (and a quick note, just like WBAYDN on BA) and post it
    • Desktop: Control + click on the image > Copy Link
    • App: (sometimes the first option doesn't appear)
      • Long press the image > scroll down > Copy Media Link
      • Tap the image > select "..." > Share > Copy
    • On BA, click the image icon in the posting tool, paste the image URL
This is good interim solution for those looking to post images in the forums and is much better than using most 3rd-party image hosts that love to inject spam into their embeds.

    See you on Discord! :beers:
