I had a Two Bros. Ebel's Weiss with Graham's Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip ice cream this weekend at Hop Juice. While it was fantastic, the Domaine Dupage with Jamocha was even better. Great combos that I would do again in a heartbeat.
Had this about a week ago and it...was...epic! KH + Breyers Vanilla Bean = fat me.

Did a beer float with Mocha Bomb by Struise, it was divine. Perhaps a tad too boozy with the 12%.
First heard about Stout floats in Brewmaster's Table and have been meaning to try it. After all these (mostly) positive reviews, will give it a shot this weekend.

Has anyone tried this with multiple, different of RIS?
With my limited experience using higher ABV beer, I've found that the cold ice cream really brings out the booze flavor in the beer. Based on all of the responses to this thread, it seems that the float may be better with an ABV% < 10%. I hope that's the case and I don't ruin either good beer or good ice cream again in the future.
I think a stout float with vanilla ice cream and http://beerfordessert.com/ 's barleywine caramel sauce on top would be badass.
Best one I've had so far was with a Salted Caramel gelato I made, with Parabola on top. Served it at a bbq in 4oz cups glasses. Tasted Amazing! Huge Hit with the beer geeks and non-beer geeks alike.
I tried a Left Hand Milk Stout with a Blue Bell Butter Crunch and it was pretty freakin' good. Next one will be an Imperial Russian Stout with Marble Slab Vanilla.
Just had Pumpkin Pie ice cream float with Rogue Shakespeare Stout. I think their Chocolate Stout would work better, but still - yum!
What experiences have you all had with beer floats?
two brothers Red Eye Porter with mocha ice cream at hop juice fest was pretty delicious. I also took the advice on the side of the stone porter with vanilla and made a float for m'lady. She obliged
Last month's draft had a full page about this. I tried the Tanilla Porter/ Coffee Ice Cream Float... It was killer!
I've done them with vanilla ice cream - Lindeman's framboise and Bell's Batch 9000 both turned out delicious

It's hard to beat a Yeti float. But one time I had a float with French vanilla ice cream and a barrel aged mint coffee stout from South Shore Brewery. That was amazing!
I have not tried makng a beer float yet, but I'm thinking either pumpkin ice cream with a coffee stout, creme brulee stout, or a doppelbock. Perhaps I'll do some side by side comparisons and let everyone know.
Just recently had a maple syrup ice cream and BCBS float (BCBS on tap). It was pretty killer.

Youngs double chocolate and vanilla ice cream is pretty much the classic beer float.
Vanilla bean ice cream with half Kern river V and X stout... so good. I bake and cook a lot with beer. Try making brownies with Rouges Hazelnut and Speedway... Great, now I gotta go bake.
Actually, we've made some beer floats for our podcast that we've quite enjoyed; all of them our own recipes (though the milkshake idea came from a magazine).
But one of my favorite creations (though not an actual float) is the Holy Diver, named in honor of Ronnie James Dio. It's a shot of Frangelico [hazelnut liqueur] poured into the malty depths of a Young's Double Chocolate Stout.
It was no beer float, but I made a Guinness ice cream shake that was great.
I saw these on North Coast's website and had to try one. Damn, these are delicious! Anyone else ever tried one?
I bet it would be even better with a Founders Breakfast Stout.
I made one with a FIS, cookies and cream ice cream, and shaved some chocolate over it with a cheese grater. It was an awesome dessert.
