I will be in Houston for training at the HP offices here Hewlett-Packard, 20555 State Highway 249, Houston, TX 77070 I will be staying here Hilton Garden Inn Houston NW/Willowbrook 7979 Willow Chase Boulevard, Houston, Texas, 77070, USA I will not have transportation, but will be using UBER. I am looking for brew pubs, breweries that are close by or within a couple buck uber ride. Thank you in advance.
There is Mo's tavern i believe is really close by they have a decent selection of beer. Also The Farm Drinkery, they have really good beers. Those two places are the best at a close distance. Also there is an HEB (Super Market) just north of there really close and they sell a bunch of good bottles and they also have beer on tap! Cheers!
Frank, I wish 11 Below Brewing was open during the week. Pulling this from GoodBeerHouston.com, a list of bottle shops and bars in your area all down Louetta, the main road intersecting at 249 at the HP Campus: Bars: Alamo Draft House – Vintage Park 114 Vintage Park Blvd Houston, TX 77070 (713) 715-4707 The Farm 16646 Champions Forest Dr Spring, Texas 77379 (832) 761-7589 Jive Bar & Lounge 684 Louetta Rd Spring, TX 77379 (281) 653-6536 Mo’s Irish Pub 110 Vintage Park Boulevard, #270 Houston, TX 77070 (281) 655-8000 Whole Foods Champions 10133 Louetta Road Houston, TX 77070 (281) 803-6396 Bottleshops: HEB – Vintage Park 110 Vintage Park Blvd #270 Houston, TX 77070 (281) 655-8000 Whole Foods Champions 10133 Louetta Road Houston, TX 77070 (281) 803-6396
Next to your hotel is Baker Street Bar & Pub but its more night life than a craft beer nerd's ideal spot.
Truly, FrankenMiller if I were you I would avoid Mo's. The others on the list from these BAs are solid. But you should check out Rockwell Tavern on Eldridge. They have a very solid tap wall, and it's only about 10minutes from the HP campus. 12640 Telge Rd Cypress, TX 77429 There are also a couple of Spec's Warehouses around where you are going to be. If you are looking for good craft go to Mellow Mushroom, The Farm, Rockwell, Alamo, and Whole Foods. Jive does have good offerings, but it has a very smoky atmosphere. I live in the area and can hit you with recommendations.
Yeah, stay away from Mo's its a fucken abomination and Baker Street has dirty lines. Whole Foods on Louetta. Good people there, and maybe we can even do an IP trade.
PM me, I am in that complex. Whole Foods usually has some pretty good stuff on tap (growler fills). The Specs down from HP heading towards Tomball has a pretty good beer selection. The HEB at Vintage Park (growler fills), if you want I can bring you a growler to use why you are here if you want to take stuff back to the room with you, HEB usually has Yellow Rose on tap. As people mentioned Mo's is somewhat of a shitstorm, but they have some respectable stuff on tap sometimes, nothing unique. O Dells will be doing a tap takeover Thursday nite at WF at louetta. You can use this to look around and see what is available now http://www.taphunter.com/location/in/houston. Torchy's Tacos is about 100 yards from Whole Foods (always a couple of local beers on tap) great taco's The person who pointed out Rockwell's (growler fills) is dead on, they have a great taplist and food is always good, service can be tiring at times, just sit at the bar and make your life easy. Mellow Mushroom which isn't that far away has a great tap selection and good food, be sure to ask what size beer you are getting when you order, they are not always consistent. BJ's Brewpub is in walking distance from where you are staying, solid food and they have what they make + some nice bottles in a pinch. Brick House Tavern down the road, lots of beer (all middle of the road), great food Backyard Grill has seriously increased their beer game, their food is ok, but I don't go there because my wife doesn't like it (some shit that happened several years ago, something maybe I did??). Lucky's Pub, granted this is far away, but has a good selection and good food, currently what they have on tap can be found closer to where you will be staying. 11 Below is the closest brewery and they are open 5-8pm on Thursday and noon-3 on Saturday and there is always a food truck there. They only have 4 beers, but they are all solid, partial to Red IPA an their new Stout. Have fun
