Found these guys on Facebook, but can't find much information on them. I was looking for salty beers (Gose, COAST Oyster Stout, etc) when I stumbled on them. It appears they have a ton of start-up money. Anyone know much more about these guys, who's brewing for them, etc?

I heard about them awhile back, that they were going to open this summer, but it doesn't appear they have opened yet. Here is some info from a Boca Raton Magazine article:

The brewchild of a quartet of Delray Beach friends and natives and dedicated home-brewers—Chris Gove, Bo Eaton, Peter Agardy and Dustin Jeffers—Saltwater brings together its founders’ love of fine suds and good fishing. Brewmaster will be Bill Taylor, a 15-year vet of craft brewing.

Cool guys, brewery should be open by the end of the year. Got a backstage tour of the facility, big space, nice setup, gonna be a solid spot to drink!

Glad to see you on BA! Looking forward to seeing what you guys do. I'm going to sign up for your newsletter now. Any word if you'll brew beers to match your namesake (with saltwater)? :-)

I can definitely see us making a saltwater beer in the future once we perfect one. Have been using sea grapes for the past couple years since I moved down here. Can't wait to use them on a bigger scale. Thanks for showing interest and signing up for the newsletters. I'll keep the emails going once we begin brewimg to let people know what we are making/releasing.

Just tried to sign up for your newsletter, but there doesn't seem to be a link on the site so I sent an e-mail to
info@saltwaterbrewery.com and it was kicked back.

I've talked to 4 people who have been there. Two said good two said bad.

It's cool facility with a great location, but honestly the beer wasn't great. It's one of those things where I'll check them out again periodically, but I wasn't impressed. There were off flavors in all of the beers I tried, so I'm not sure if it's getting dialed in, getting experience as a brewer, or what. It feels like Due South all over again.

I must agree with HJunkie above. Due South is far above the Saltwater crew, plastic cups on opening day to boot. Really?

Does anyone know their growler policy? Just in terms of do they only fill their own branded glass?

Sorry miamichael2 we are only filling our growlers at this time. Sorry some of you did not enjoy the beer. We have some new stuff coming out in the next few weeks.

All I say to those that haven't enjoyed the beers thus far is give them time. These are their first batches on a new system. I'm sure they will get things dialed in. It took us and Buddha time to get our recipes down on these big systems.

We did plastic cups on our opening day and anniversary. Buddha did plastic cups on their opening day. CCB does plastic cups at every Hunahpu's Day. When you are super busy plastic keeps the bartenders serving up beer fast instead of having them wash glasses.

Funky Buddha can give you a 151 reasons why plastic cups aren't a bad idea (3rd anniversary party). Plus if breweries can get my beer to me faster b/c they aren't spending time washing snifters I'm cool with that.

I'm sorry, doesn't everyone bring their own snifter to brewery openings, anniversaries, and release parties? I think this failure is on the drinker. Hmph. ;-)

I thought the prices were a bit steep. $5 for 10-12 oz plastic cup of beer? $18
For a 32oz growler? Plus, the parking situation needs to be fixed STAT!

The taproom itself is nice. Very homey.
    Unfortunately...
The IPA was excessively bitter (there is such a thing to me) and unpleasant. And I love IPAs.
The session ale had a diacetyl (butterscotch) character that I couldn't get over.

I'm gonna chalk this up to new brewery growing pains, but can't recommend them until I taste a solid offering.

I have to agree with HJunkie, looks like a massive amount of money went into building the place out because it's really nice but everything i tried seemed flat and almost watered down versions of what they were shooting for. i really hope it's just a matter of getting dialed in.

I liked quite a few of their beers. That sweet stout is actually an awesome beer. Very sessionable.

A few beers need work, but Rome wasn't built in a day. I remember when Funky Buddha first started brewing and they needed work too. Hop Gun was way too malty. And now look where they are today.

Tried the Mayday chocolate imperial porter yesterday which was pretty good.. The Flying Scotsmen (scotch ale) unfortunately was pretty horrible. Had a buddy drain pour a gallon of their DIPA today. I hope they straighten it out because it's a pretty damned convenient place to stop off 95.
