Hell ya! I'm heading over for the MLIW show too. And Zombie Burger afterwards. It's going to be a great night.

Thanks for the info! I'm going to try and track down some Crooked Stave while there as well. I've heard nothing but good things.

All 4 of Crooked Stave's regular lineup beers are available at Ankeny HyVee as well.

You don't live in Omaha at least some of the time CowsandBeer (I know your state always says KS, but seems like you are in Omaha often from some posts)?

Anyways, plenty of Crooked Stave and Prairie bottles in Council Bluffs is why I ask.

Don't know if it is still on, but last Tuesday El Bait Shop tapped Prairie Bomb.

Yeah, I'm kinda up there like once a month. For some reason I assumed Council Bluffs wouldn't get that stuff. But now that I know, I'm for sure going to check it out. Thanks man.

Check with Hy Vee on Fleur (very close to airport) as well as they generally have Prairie and Crooked Stave offerings...and could be on the way downtown if you're coming in from the south.

Des Moines is not getting Sue and Sosus bottles until "next week." No specific date yet. Murph is currently busy with deliveries to all of his other Iowa accounts. It's coming though!

Bell's Expedition, Java Stout, Third Coast and Founders Breakfast are all hitting select Des Moines accounts today!

    Thanks!
So in this thread's opinion, which is the best store to hit up in Des Moines?
I'm for sure going to hit up El Bait Shop and Zombie Burger. El Bait Shop's current tap list is unreal.

For bottle shops, you really can't go wrong with Ankeny #2 HyVee, Pleasant Hill HyVee or Fleur HyVee. All 3 have pretty similar selections and are hands and feet above any other shops in town. If I currently had to choose one shop to hit, it would be Ankeny#2 for sure.

For draft options, El Bait is a must hit for sure (usually 100+ taps and solid fod). Keg Stand is also great (killer wings too), Zombie Burger (great burger and a small, but impressive tap list) and Univeristy Library Cafe (again, small, but awesome tap list).

FBS should be tomorrow, in the Iowa City area at least.

Wow, the new Ankeny HyVee does have a great beer selection! That will save me from having to make trips to John's in Iowa City. They are getting things that I can't even get at Cyclone in Ames. What a promising sight to see for a grocery store selection.

Toppling Goliath gone from our shelves at John's Grocery already. No surprise. I rarely buy special releases at the store but I had to get a Sosus. Loved it last time.

I thought with a limit of one everywhere they would be around for a few hours, but that certainly wasn't the case. Everyone seems to have sold out in minutes not hours.

Grabbed one of each. I really didn't feel like driving all over to grab multiples. Sosus is a great beer though.

Sosus is even better than I remembered, such a great beer. Got a few of each and very glad. Both Hy-vee locations that got it were sold out within an hour. Crazy

Waterloo/Cedar Falls never got a shipment of Sosus last time it was bottled. We have yet to get it this time either. And I'm not seeing a delivery mentioned. We usually get our stuff on the same shipment as Des Moines from TG, even though DSM is twice as far away from Decorah as CF. Makes no sense to me why they never hit here on their Cedar Rapids and Iowa City runs, which are on the same side of the state as Cedar Falls.

Glad to see Madison got their alotment though. And it sounds like Hudson is getting it before us too. It just sucks as a long time TG supporter. Waterloo/CF was one of the first big markets they were in, and we have them on tap at several places around town. But when they bottle, we always get passed over. Even though its only an hour and a half away from Decorah. No offense to you outta staters, but you have NG and Surly. I wish TG would satisfy their Iowa accounts before going out of state.

More good beer distro news for our fine state. Iowa will be getting the next Stone Enjoy By IPA release 11.12.13. It is being bottled on 10.9, so if we are lucky, it will be on shelves early the week of 10.14. Stoked! http://www.stonebrewing.com/enjoyby/#

Damn you beat me to it BottleCaps80 :)

I think it might actually drop the 11th or so if we are lucky. ETA is listed as 10/09

edit: Nevermind, 35 days subtracted from 11.12.13 is 10.09.13. Page confused me with the Status and ETA :)

Actually...my bad, I see it is being bottled today (10.4) and the ETA for it to hit shelves is 10.9 (next Wednesday). Sweet!

Happy we get some stuff on tap, but agree, no love for Des Moines on the bottles.

Whoa, whoa, whoa.... Des Moines has gotten bottles of every TG release that has gotten distro other than the last bottling of Sosus. Do we usually get it a few days later than other markets...Yes, but that seems to be logistics. Be patient, bottle are coming to Des Moines. As a matter of fact, I hear they'll be here early next week.

Where do I have to be? At what time? Who do I need to kill to get them? I know the game. Sadly, I'm not connected to the 1 or 2 stores that will get them. I do pretty well with the special releases, but I wasn't aware Sosus has ever made Des Moines. Sorry, frustration setting in. I will emphasize my appreciation for what I can find on tap.

Sosus didn't make it the first and only time (until now) it was bottled.

It is a 7 hour round trip from Decorah after all and that release must not have coincided with them needing to take kegs to Central IA. :)

Well, I guess that explains why it sold out so fast. Everywhere I saw that posted on Facebook said one bottle limits.

Sosus and Sue will be hitting Des Moines early-mid next week. Sosus will hit a few locations, but it's more limited than the Sue since we bottled Sue twice this week. If you keep an eye on Facebook for the day of delivery and locations, it should be possible to pick up some bottles.

I've always felt like those two companies do it right. Satisfy your in state demand before branching out on other ventures. I can understand TG's reasons financially and also for wanting to get their name out to more places, but I'm not sure releasing bottles once every few months and kegs to select bars in select markets is going to accomplish that. But hey, what do I know, I don't run a brewery, I just drink the stuff.

I think a lot of it has to do with Clark being a master of conducting the Hype Train. They are building a brand with very little product, and creating demand by exploiting it's lack of availability. The problem is, the beer is not as good as the hype suggests. They have some winners - Sosus, MD, Millenium Falcon. They have some losers too - Golden Nugget, Zeelander. As long as the train keeps rolling, they will continue to win.
