Just saw this posted today from Omnipollo - I've never seen or even contemplated the idea of a waxed can before. Exclusive? Well, yes. Better? Uh, hmm....

Cool can and all but does it make the beer taste better? It is pretty sweet marketing to garner attention and all.

I gave omnipollo plenty of chances and ultimately I can't waste any more money on them. Some decent stuff but over priced and too gimicky too often. This makes it even easier to ignore them

That's cool as art, but is functionally pointless and would make it a PITA to open. Sure wouldn't pay extra for it. What next, waxed taps?

This is my perception of omnipollo, they've translated enough untapped reviews to know the buzz words that need to be on beers to sell them for 8$.

Who will this be marketed to?

Barley wine aged in strawberry/bourbon mead barrels and syrah mead barrels and vanilla/bourbon barrels and bourbon barrels is something that no one has ever asked for.

They'll probably be priced at $10/can too.

One time at a restaurant I brought a bottle of wine for our group to enjoy at dinner; the bottle just happened to be waxed. I handed it to the server when she arrived at our table and she quickly departed to the back to open it and bring us glasses. She returned to our table a few minutes later and admitted she didn't know how to open it (because of the wax). I had to show her how to open a waxed bottle of wine and suffice it to say she waived the corkage fee because...I opened it.

I can only imagine what a server would do with a waxed can. I'd almost pay $40 just to see it.

C'mon guys, it's a parody. The style, the ABV, the multiple barrels, the dozens of brewers, the hyperbolic claims... it's all intentionally over-the-top. Put useless wax on a 16 oz. can and you've combined the two standard formats of hype beers (waxed 750s and pounder cans). Yes, it's ridiculous; that's the point.

Added: To be clear, I think this beer exists and will be packaged as pictured, but I think the purpose is to skewer craft beer hype culture while simultaneously benefiting from it. Omnipollo is in on the joke.

I'd really like to think that, but I honestly don't think it is. I've seen too many other beers recently with this similar level of barrel-blends, kitchen-sink adjunct lists, and ridiculous single can prices that were entirely serious to think this is a parody.

First the CANtroller, then the screw-together beer cans, and now this. The April Fool's bar keeps getting higher every day.

But nothing is more refreshing or rewarding than that first sweet (or bitter) taste of exclusivity!

Agreed. They brewed (still brew) a mango s’mores beer and that was a couple years ago. Bar is set way higher now. And for fux sake, many things that go into beers nowadays should not be in beer but c’mon! Cream cheese or powdered cream cheese especially do not belong in beer.

This is exactly like when Tired Hands lists tasting notes of "freshly foraged morels from New Zealand, dank Sour Diesel, and rainwater collected on top of a cheesecake" and inevitably some old guy who failed high school English and can't distinguish parody or pick up on tone goes "wOw CaN't bEliEvE tHaT's So SpEcIfIc...... i GeT aLl MoReLs BuT nO rAiNwAteR."

have you guys thought about adding some breakfast cereal, vanilla, and cinnamon to your wines so that they're...you know...good? maybe look into a bourbon barrel and some obscure eastern european mead barrels too.:whale: only
