is Cigar City Brewery worth a visit?

    Hello all,

    I am a New Englander and flying down to Orlando in September. I've heard great things about Cigar City and was thinking about making the road trip to Tampa to check them out. I am flying in on a Tuesday and would then head directly over there. I noticed that the brewery tour isn't available on that day which isn't a huge deal for me. Is it still worth it to go there on that day to check out their tasting room? Their hours (11a-11p) are amazing. Basically my interest would be to sample some of their brews and then make some purchases. If I couldn't make it would I be able to find any of their brews in the Orlando area? Thanks in advance!     Yes, and if you get there before noon you can get one of their weekly special growler offerings. A quick search of the forum will yield you all the needed answers (i.e. go to Knightly Spirits in Orlando, TW near Cigar City is great, check out Seventh Sun and Dunedin, etc.)

    My sis lives in St. Pete, and she recently hooked me up with 7 different varieties. Most were outstanding, the balance were better than good.

    A brewery's tasting room is a perfect place to build bias for/against any beer. No place is the product fresher.

    Woohoo! My bday is Thurs so my fiance got me tour passes for sat and reservations for brewpub later (don't know if they are needed or not). Can't wait to go this weekend. I only live a little more than an hour away and still have been unable to ever make it to CCB due to work. Sorry to use your thread as an outlet to express my bday excitement, op. I will let you know about my experience and contribute with my opinion afterwards. (I'm sure it will be worth it)

    I'm visiting the tasting room soon as well and was wondering if they sell CCB bottled beer in the tasting room or is it just stuff from the tap?

    The tasting room is awesome. Its split into two different 'bars'. The front bar will fill your growlers. When I was there, they had around 24 different beers on tap. I grabbed a growler of Itsa Pale Ale. That stuff was awesome.

    They have a couple of coolers in the front bar area. One has cans of Jai Alai and Maduro Brown, along with some other things. The other cooler has bombers with the recent goodie. I got some Barrel Aged Big Sound and Barrel Aged Imperial Sweet Stout in bombers.

    Great place. I even took a picture of my new 'baby' on the ride home, all safe and sound

    Note that this must have been last year as they haven't had anything good like that in the cooler since then.

    As of sunday they had Patio Pils, Maduro, Jai Alai, and Florida Cracker cans/bottles and Cucumber Saison(750) in the coolers for purchase. Sunday was my first time visiting. Drove 3 and 1/2 hours and we will definitely be doing it again.
