I don't think the Watermelon Jolly Rancher Berliner could've been anymore on point.

 

Amazingly, I heard J Wakefield wasn't too crowded, yet I went to MIA and it was completely packed. Guess I made the wrong decision.

 

Any chance JWB has a tv for the football games? Trying to time my visit today. During or post Pats game.

Soft Opening Weekend 2: Some fantastic beers on draft.



Hazelnut Coffee and Watermelon Berliner were slammin' home runs for me. DDT was in rare form and Sherry Vinegar-Cherry was surprisingly tasty.

 

You really have to hand it to them - their taplists have been really impressive since they've opened. I'm very optimistic about their OG club, and I hope they start offering exclusive growler fills for members.

Edit: Lychee Rose Water Berliner sounds crazy, and I may just copy that idea and brew my own.

Does anyone in the area know if Wakefield will stay open from now on? I'll be in the area in a few weeks.

Oh, and would babies be allowed? Any growlers for non OG members (curse my not buying in)?

 

My understanding is he'll be open weekends (Fri-Sat) until his grand opening in mid-Feb. Not sure about babies being allowed, but no growlers are being filled at this time.

 

Was there from 5-7 Friday evening, saw a couple with a baby didn't seem to be an issue. Very happy for JW and crew, the watermelon jolly rancher berliner is outstanding.

 

Looks like JW is crushing it so far with the opening. After the long wait, I'm very excited and jealous of you guys who ponied up for the membership.

 

Guessing the website will be up when the grand opening happens in Feb ? I tried to check it out but was a no go. Also is the OG membership closed or still open ? Thanks !!

It does not really define how many of each a member would get. Six bottles total with at least 1 being dragon fruit and 1 being the stout. In theory that could mean 1 dragon fruit and 5 stouts. I agree with the sentiment, being able to get more than one bottle of any release would be nice.

Am I the only one who is a little annoyed that we were supposed to get confirmation about this party YESTERDAY? People have to travel from out of town, get time off, make hotel and flight reservations... Wtf.

 

An addition that I forgot to add. If you don't have a confirmation but think that, send the email and tell is that.

 

Yeah I was just thinking about that today when trying to plan with the wife.

 

The meeting with the city was pushed back to this morning. JW is doing a presentation, for the final "OK" to close the street. Another update will come forward after today's meeting.

 

This is for the grand opening which is not the same as the OG party which will be held at a later date when his barrel aged beer is ready.

 

The lack of communication is bothersome.

 

(Meanwhile, six J. Wakefields will be on draft Saturday night in Orlando at Tap & Grind's beerfest. Worth noting since Central Florida isn't on the path yet.)

 

This seems to be a common theme of the society.

 

They've sent out two e-mails in the past two weeks, one of which included what was being brewed for the OG club, along with a time table for their release. What else do you guys want? Call the tasting room if you're so concerned and have questions that haven't been answered.
