Any updates on when this brewery will be open for business? The article in post above said memorial Day - we are 30 days past that scheduled opening.

Might be up that way in about a month and was curious....thx!

Depends which article you're looking at, as one is almost a year old, whereas the other...

"O’Neil’s new brewery, Industrial Arts, is slated to open this fall in the Garnerville Arts and Industrial Center in Rockland, and it’s a far cry from your typical craft brew startup."

I'm a teacher about 1 week away from putting my feet up, but dang it if I'm not suddenly looking forward to September.

I always look forward to September. Pay checks, NFL and cool weather. Now a new brewery too.

Mod's can take this down if they want, but figured it was noteworthy

Look out for it in fine beer establishments in NYC, capital region, and Hudson valley this week. A wise man once said to us: "Let's drink some pale ale"

"Only three or four beers at a time," one of which will always be the same, is a pretty massive bummer for a brewery as big as this one is going to be. Unless that means just at the start or in the first few months, which if the case, disregard my statement.

Chief wants one to recognize quality, so that’s his drive:

“he isn’t seeking the ultra specialty-seeking hipster crowd, rather everyday beer drinkers who appreciate a high-quality, consistent IPA.” (http://www.lohud.com/story/news/2015/08/06/jeff-oneil-launch-rockland-brewery/31162149/)

I would much rather have a choice of 3 great beers than 10 that range from sub par to okay.
    That's probably just me though.

I'd rather have closer to 10 taps as long as 80% aren't IPAs like many breweries nowadays.

Disincentivizing hipsters from going after his beer is a wonderful thing.

Also, one of the four taps is gonna be a constantly different pilot batch presumably utilizing all the man's broad skill sets for different styles of beer, another is gonna be a constantly changing beer showcasing the latest hop varieties, so I don't think there will be a lack of new and different.

Quality and quantity are not mutually exclusive, especially from a world-class brewer like Chief.

I would prefer more taps if they're all quality. I agree with @SammyJaxxxx's sentiment, but places like Kane and Rushing Duck (to name two) have several different beer on tap, all of which I'd consider quality.

Jack's Abby's new beerhall has twenty taps and when you find me a single one of their beers that isn't quality, let me know, and I'll send you a bridge catalog and you can buy whichever one you want.

I don't need 20 taps, or hell, even 10, and I admire the ethos behind wanting to ensure every option is quality. But some of you are still acting like more taps means some will be lackluster. That is almost never the case at world-class breweries.

I got to try both of these IPAs at Maine beer festival. But they didnt blow me away (also, there were so many beers and i was drunk too). It was their first public offering ever. However, I had a very good conversation with both Ken and Jeff. According to them their place should be opening pretty soon. There focus mainly going to be hop forward like rest of the world . They were in Portland for a collab with Oxbow .....its going to be an "ICE" beer. They were using ICE from both NY and ME. Will definitely check them out once they open.
