Missed out. Clicked 1 set of 8, add to cart, and had an error saying I hadn't purchased it in the allotted amount of time. Went back and 8 was sold out, but 4 wasn't so tried that, and had an error saying I was trying to purchase more than the max allotment. On my third try both were sold out...all within a minute.

Seems to me something was up with the site, and by the time the people who had errors were able to go back, other people had cleaned up the allotments.

Not a big deal, and certainly not Kane's fault. Put me in the camp that would rather do this 10,000 times than wait in what the line would have been. Not to get that old-timey, but I started going to releases in 2008 and they were really fun. I probably haven't been to one in 2 years because they got so outrageous...have people ever thought maybe the breweries and stores really don't want you there 6-12 hours before opening, drinking/smoking weed/peeing/yelling about beer in public the whole time?

I'd much rather do these lotteries, join a reserve society, or have to attend an event like Captain Lawrence is doing to get bottles of special beers than deal with what normal release lines have become.

Where has anyone actually said this?
I don't see anyone actually bashing Kane in this thread. Anyone that's upset has just been complaining about how they don't understand how it sold out so quickly online.
Just like how others have stated, I'm just glad that I didn't have to worry about waiting in line to find out they sold out.

So reading your statement then essentially you got what you keep asking for... a lottery. It sucks that you didnt get any this time but thats just the way it goes. ((shrug))

I recommend switching from Charmin to baby wipes. The lotion helps soothe the burning sensation.

I think there are a bunch of upset people on Facebook. I wanted the ticket system and now I guess I have a free morning so at least there's that.

Well, I won't be fighting you for a place in line. One less person for you to beat to the door.

Yeah. I completely understand. I guess I just have a hard time being sympathetic to people who want beer so badly that they're devoting 12 hours of time spent sitting in line overnight in December. I've said it time and time again, and don't particularly feel like getting into this conversation again, but these people are the ones who are ruining these things - not the method of sale. The people that think that they are more worthy of the beer because they slept in the goddamn parking lot. You're not worthy of anything other than some kind of medical examination to ensure that you're of sane mind. /rant (I think that's what internet people do at the end of their little diatribes. Put a / in front of the word rant? I dk. I'm getting too old for this shit...)

I'm saying actually do it as a lottery because it shouldn't be a matter of speed. I keep bringing it up because there's ways to automate this process and make it unfair which I am sure happened.

I was sitting at my desk on BPT spamming F5 from 11:50 on. It never once even gave me the option to add to cart. It instantly went from "not available" to "sold out" at 12:00. I for one was totally fine w/ standing in line for many hours. I love Kane's beer, and I have spent multiple thousands of dollars on it. I buy every bottle release, even ones that aren't my favorite style because I like to support them. This just really screwed over people who are loyal customers in favor of the rando's from anywhere in a 4-6hr driving distance. I am most upset because I decided to forgo hunting ANY BCBS and variants this year to save money for this release because I'd rather support my local brewery than AB/Inbev. Now I get neither, and that really blows!

I agree. The more sales that move to ticketing the better. It certainly is fair. I got a set and didn't use any bots or code or anything like that. I didn't even know what F5 did until reading this thread. I've been shut out of many ticketed events in the past (Lawson's Anniversary Party comes to mind). You win some, you lose some. What you don't lose is an entire day standing in line only to be shut out and I'll take that any day.

Most people seem to have a pretty good attitude about this, whether landing it or not. Same thing happened when Alesmith started using BPT. Nice to see that there's plenty of positive reaction.

The people bitching the loudest are probably the same people that were going to drink all night in Kane's parking lot (against the brewery's requests, of course) and then have ten friends join them at 9:50.

If you are Kane, or any other brewer, why would you NOT do it this way? Your beer still sells, and you completely avoid a shit show on/near your premises that could potentially get you in trouble with your landlord, your community, the police, or a combination of the three.

    tynian16 Zealot (644) Oct 23, 2015 New York

The biggest problem is that it should have only been 4 packs, not 8 packs. If you are @MichaelKane and Kane Brewing I would think you want more people to try your beer, not less. That way you generate more future sales. Again, no problem with the ticket sales, just the limits. At the end of the day, I will still have a good beer to drink Sunday, just not an ANTEAD.

I feel that. I've been going to them for years now and also have spent a lot of money there. I planned on camping out early to secure my share but once the bpt was decided on I knew my chances went from 100% to 1%. Had it in my cart and then got booted out. If you're interested in regular bcbs still I have a case if you want a few bottles.

I started to refresh a few minutes before on two computers and at 11:58 it started to slow down. I just figure it was everyone refreshing around then. Hopefully some nice stuff will be available for growlers on Sunday.

Not trying to be a dick here but if we've learned anything from this, and all the other hyped releases, Kane is probably not too worried about generating future sales. The caveat is: as long as they continue to make a great product.

Disappointed that yet another year may be going by without me being able to try this beer. Holding out hope there was some bot nonsense and a bunch of sales will be cancelled. Ah well, back to the camping out at midnight plan, I guess.

You can set your clock on your computer to whatever time you want but you should really be using a NTP network time server which sets your time to perfect global time. I refreshed as soon as it turned 12, put an 8 pack in my cart, entered a cc and got my allocation.

I'm sure they aren't worried about selling this particular beer. I am talking about word of mouth and more people trying their different beers day to day and buying growlers. And then when they get canning figured out buying cans. Growing a business that way makes sense to me.

That's just luck of the draw. I'm sure a lot of other people did the same thing and didn't get as lucky. Not Kane's fault. Just how it goes. I've been on both sides of it.

Had atomic clock on desktop, and BPT on laptop. Tickets went on sale exactly at noon. Anyone who says they were on sale earlier needs to update their clock.

Yea, same here...And if someone would care to explain to me how writing a script to put in your info would help at all in this scenario. When i clicked purchase for the 8 pack it took me to a screen with a timer set at 15 min i believe. Allowing me time to input my name and relevant info. IIRC, you could let that time run down to 5 seconds have all your info in and still be able to purchase. So how does having your info in at 14:59 differ from having it in at 0:05?

Myself and 3 other people I know all tried at 12 on the dot and got the over allotment message... Oh well, tons of other great beer out there. Hope to try some of these eventually though. The only thing that should have been changed is it should have been 1 of each per person only, share the wealth right!

All I did was CMD+R (Mac here) from 11:59 on (yes 11:59 and anyone who says they went on sale early have clocks off by a few minutes) and as soon as a refresh showed the quantity as an option I selected 1 and went to checkout and moved as fast as I could. I had my CC copied and pasted it. I checked out in under 10 seconds. I have no opposition to random draw but I also love fastest fingers and anyone who thinks the system had a "glitch" by selling out so fast has never participated in a stocking of a highly sought after item  Yes, this type of stocking favors people with fast Internet, a fast computer and experience in stockings like this. I admit that. However, accusing people of using "code" just because you are unfamiliar with highly sought after stockings is a special kind of butthurt. Random draw would be great next time but I guarantee that people will still be pissed after missing out. I can hear it already. "Oh, this person had their family member enter for them" or "Oh this person created 50 emails to enter" or "Oh this person is the owner of random.org and it isn't fairrrrr."

I hate to say I told you so, but all of the people who advocate drinking in line, this is what you get. To avoid a complete shit show some of which is caused by people treating the line like there own personal party, they did BPT. For line drinkers who got shut out, you only have yourself to blame.

And yes, I understand why beer people love to share beer, the best part of being a beer geek is the generosity and camaraderie of beer geeks who barely know each other. But there is a time and a place for it. Have had the opportunity to drink at shares and breweries with many fine BAs on here and definitely appreciate it.

I feel bad for you. There needs to be a better way of supporting the locals who keep the lights on every week as opposed to the people who swoop in once a year not to be seen again until next bog release.
