I would appreciate it if you kept our finalized trades private. It may affect the market on said beer. I still have to move the bottles my wife muled.

I have no dog in this fight, but why not just post an ISO for what you want in trade? Seems fair to me, if the right eyes hit it and like it your done, it's its not right you get crickets. The forum corrects itself in a way,

Haha the current market, nice, yeah the new breed of beer commodity traders planning their portfolios, wondering if market conditions will be favorable for them to profit. Used to be they bridled at the accusations, now they feel comfortable using the terminology.

Because right now NO ONE is sure what the actual trade value of this beer, regardless how many "FT:Kiwi Herman" want you to think this is the next Chez, and we won't know the true value until someone actually tick it. However, I can guarantee no one is going to be the first to tick it because if this turn out to be NOT the next Chez, and it's out there in public, just watch this vulture crowd of "FT:Kiwi Herman" descent upon this guy and make his life miserable.

Id be shocked if the first 5 ratings of Kiwi Herman didnt include some very high ratings from Cali folks who end up putting it up for trade (or who have already put it up for trade).

The sad truth is, not many will feel confident in ratings until a well respected BA (very subjective) rates this beer.

So Cali guys are waiting to see if it trades $2 to 1, or $3 to 1, or more. So why the hype then? All the ISO's. I thought I saw a thread offering a KH or 2 for a KBBS. If you have a guaranteed bottle and you pre trade that's fine, done all the time, trade it for what you want to try then instead of gauging whether it's worth 1 Prop or 2.

like it or not there is a beer market. Same with game items, wine, memorabilia. If you don't like it, you're more then welcome to trade with individuals who are the same way. It's funny how many of you complain about winning trades then the same people say it's a fair trade as long as both parties are happy.

I really hope people can use this to find out what's a fair offer for Herman or people with Herman know what to ask for when trading. So we won't see more kiwi Herman for kbbs

@Stevedore is actually my go-to reviewer for most everything. I love the detail he goes into, and it seems he's reviewed every beer I've ever wanted to trade for. So someone should send him a bottle too. But heck, anyone who goes into depth in their review, appears fair, and has a good history of reviewing will definitely sway me toward or away from trading for a bottle.

Bottom line, it's gonna take a lot more than a couple 5/5 ratings from SoCal folks for me to want to trade for Kiwi Herman.

Have one coming for nothing from a past trading partner because I did not try to gouge him on a trade we recently completed.

This market value, business dealing bullshit provides for great threads, but fucks any thought that we are in fact a "community".

What is BA trading about? Winning? Seems like it.

Keep doing it the way you do it, in the end you will continue to drink A LOT of great beer because of it.

3 years ago when King Henry came out, I sent a bottle of it to a great trading partner because I knew he would like it more than me. He shared it a bottle share and sent me pictures of people enjoying it, that was worth more to me than drinking it myself. Fast forward to December 2014 , have become great friends with this guy, he invited me to his retirement service from the armed forces, flew across the country for the privilege of being part of it. He held a bottle share that night. Nelson, Double BA Huna, etc, etc., many other great beers and ironically, he had a King Henry! First time I ever had it, loved it, even more so sharing it with a great friend. That is what #winning is all about, not determining the current value of the latest "whale" and extracting maximum value of out it.

I mean @joromiller said this in the past...

*The people that know me best will attest to the fact that I give away and share far more beer than I consume or cellar. I probably send a box of beer to a perfect stranger once every few weeks, and most people don't even know about it (other than FedEx, VISA and my wife). I strive to be the truest sense of a beer advocate because it supports my worldview and belief system. I am personal friends with almost everyone I tagged in this post. I know them because in many areas of life, we share a similar worldview. Even though many of these guys have cellars worth tens of thousands of dollars, most do not act like pretentious elitists (*cough JOEL cough*) or men unwilling to accept personal responsibility so I'm not sure why this is a drum being beaten in this thread.

I'd love to believe that is true... Sending walez to strangers once every few weeks?

I think it's too late for that I'm afraid, you just look at the ISO/ Ft now compared to say 3-4 years ago. I pretty much stick with a few frequent trade partners for the most part, I've really slowed it down a lot. To be honest all the Whalz Bro doesn't interist me much, probably because I'm an Ipa guy first and I've tried about all I ever really wanted, and the guys I trade with can get great ipas.

If you don't like it, don't read it. Simple as that. Value thread will continue to be posted, beer will continue to be traded the way it is. Like it or not it's the way things are headed right now.

You ask for what you want.

I traded a kiwi for wild peach and aurelian. Was I being unfair? I don't think I was asking for the moon. I had multiple people more then willing to accept that offer.

That doesn't really answer the question but your point is a fair one. If you ask, and someone agrees to me no harm no foul.

That doesn't mean you should ask for outrageous trades (your example here doesn't seem to be outrageous by the way but I'm not a whalez trader) to get the best you can, save that for the stock market.

This thread certainly would have more substance and real meaning if it was started by someone NOT from Cali or someone else who had the complete opposite mindset of trading/sharing beers other than yourself. I'll be brutally honest here. You may be the nicest dude in person, but since the internet is the only way I'll get to know you on a "personal" level. You are definitely someone I'll NEVER trade with now or anytime in the near millennium. "Like it or not" that's the way its heading!!
