Couldn't even interest Carlos Brito in a buy-out, huh?
(They did it for the cider company started by GI's founder's son/ex-headbrewer...)
I missed that one... Greg Hall quite the beverage business genius, isn't he?
I have warm feelings when a trust fund d-bag fails in the one industry that makes him remotely relevant.
That doesn't make me a bad person, right?
The Karmic (comic) wheel just keeps on spinning. Poor boy....
Never seen it, won’t miss it.
Another Billy Beer.
All you need to do is Google Billy Busch and read some news articles and you will see part of why the educated local consumers did not stand behind this beer. He's not exactly a role model.
Wasn't this just some contract-brewed beer that came out of La Crosse?
This came to mind....
I believe you're thinking of Kül?
@muck1979 You're right--looks like two brands with German-sounding names staring with a K and containing an umlaut were brewed at LaCrosse.
Funny, the local consumers didn't seem to have a problem with AB's products when August Busch IV ran the company.
Obviously, bad press is not helpful to any company (and, these days it is only compounded by social media picking up the stories) but I'm not so sure beer buyers stand in front of the coolers looking for a brand whose owner is a good "role model".
So, similar to how Jim Koch's Boston Beer Co., the Brooklyn Brewery, Harpoon (Mass. Bay) Brewing Co., Pete's Brewing Co., Sixpoint Brewing Co., St. Louis (Schlafly) Brewing Co., Shmaltz, Pennsylvania Brewing Co., Three Floyds, Yuengling and countless others entered the industry and/or expanded their production?
With a name like kräftig, I thought it was furniture from Ikea.
Seriously though, never heard of it until I saw the article about it going out of business.
Ah, it's a Busch family tradition*, when you can't think of a name for your beer, "borrow" someone else's...
*William K. Busch was further handicapped by having his last name being owned by a Belgian-based multinational.
I respectfully submit that Billy Busch has never been handicapped in his entire life.
Quite the opposite. His entire charmed life has been due to his name and he has continually managed to fuck it up in the most stellar ways imaginable.
In a better world William August Busch IV would have achieved the greatness he was capable of. If only he was not burdened with his famous family name.
Removed some of the info that was committed by his brother... also a fine piece of work.
Jesus he sounds like a classic rich kid gone wild with no regard to anyone who crosses him. F this guy.
I only ever saw this stuff when I went to visit family in St. Louis and it seemed to never catch on there at all. I'm surprised it took this long for it to go under, but maybe that Busch money kept it afloat longer?
Hey, at least Billy isn't as bad as his cousin:
Man these guys are a bunch of losers. That thing about losing the urine sample is like a tv movie
