Its NOT as good as I thought it would be. Considering DRIPA is one of my favorite beers ever I had high hopes.
Tasting notes: tastes like DRIPA, but more.
On the nose I was wondering if they poured me the right beer. Smells very close to the double. But man, pack a spoon for this puppy. She's a monster of a mouth. Cloying, enough sweet malt, but still a big bomb with some significant dryness.

My favorite taste was the Pineapple Play in the Hay. Friggin awesome stuff.

Had a tiny taste of the Extraneous and Vintage Ale. Thank goodness. HUGE. Didn't much care for the Vintage, and the Extraneous was a lot like 4D but grainier and not as sweet. Is this one barreled?

I find I like good, dry IPAs more than double IPAs, and double IPA more than "triple IPAs". Malt sweetness gets in the way of the hops.

I don't believe Extraneous is barrel aged. They probably would have included BA in the name if it was.

Not sure how long ago it was posted (or which batch it actually refers to), but RB has this posted in its description:

"Boiled for 23 hours, yielding around 30 gallons of beer, extraneous ale was then transferred to a bourbon barrel where it will spend 6 months before being released. Fermented with a lager yeast at ale temperatures. ABV is, at this point, an estimate."

I've picked up some hints of barrel in Extraneous before, but always wondered if I was just imagining things...

Yeah, a decent amount, but the pineapple isn't overpowering, but man is it tart.

Pineapple play is gob smacking sour in a wonderful way. The blueberry play has the best blueberry aroma I have ever smelled in a beer. Taste politely sour good blue berry flavor.
